Somebody needs to take the lyrics and work them into 'Hey Look Me Over.' Are there any other universities who don't have an original fight song?

Lucille Ball first performed it in Wildcat.

(For you fans of Jim Carrey in The Mask, the next video that came up for me was Ricky Ricardo & Lucy singing 'Cuban Pete.' And for extra points, who played their son, Little Ricky?)

Here are the lyrics... notice 'Shanta Clare' instead of 'Chanticleer':

Unfortunately, they repeatedly call them Cajuns.

Which is doubly offensive. We would never serve corndogs at tailgating.

Carnegie needs to calculate when schools drop significantly in the academic overall rankings, regardless of research budget, their status should be at risk

Not a bad idea. But I would also like to see a requirement that each school submit an organizational diagram of their institution within their system, for both NSF and Carnegie. Someone needs to look through the diagram and ask, "Where are the numbers for these other campuses?"

As I have noted previously, LSU-BR claims the funding for Pennington and LSU Ag Extension as their own, even though each is an independent entity, with its own administration, under the LSU System. LSU used to do the same thing to UNO. In fact, despite the assumptions of those who equate football with academics, UL & UNO were actually vying for 2nd place in Louisiana, Tech was a distant 4th place. So I could never understand why I heard all these good things about UNO's research, but their numbers were never reported.

Then a UNO faculty member filled me in.

Now that UNO is in the UL System, they publish their own numbers. Tough thing for them is, after Katrina and other setbacks, their research funding has dropped quite a bit.

Misguided faith, mind you, but still great. As someone who got their PhD there once commented, "They think they're a great university because they have bumperstickers that say so."

    Check out the 'Bama game.
