Those may be hidden costs but Louisiana needs to do everthing it can to move in the direction of playing 3 or 4 P5 schools a year.

Break the ice and Louisiana becomes more attractive to other schools.

3 or 4 a year?? That’s ridiculous unless we actually are a p5. 1 p5, 2 g5, 1 fcs. That formula is working well for success on the field and in national perception. The problem is the Acadiana area could care less about us being ranked or our home schedule. So until we can figure out how to get locals to like red and white more and purple and puke less. Or at least get the red and white fans to get off their asses and go to the games. We won’t climb many rungs.

Getting more fans is the million dollar question. Whoever solves that riddle deserves a million dollars for sure.

Completely agree. I would add the caveat of keeping the tradition of the Louisiana Classics game of an in-state FCS to start the year. Benefits of that game outweigh the negatives even if it means one less P5 we can schedule.

There really is no point to scheduling any non conference G5 unless it is latech or Tulane.

Makes sense. Tulane basically won the pac12 last year already. You know jmv, when they beat usc. Which should be impossible.

Don't believe it. Tulane gives them nothing they can't get with any of a handful of MWC schools. I believe SMU just because of the market they can claim for a TV deal, for which the PAC is desperate. Memphis is iffy. I would think that Memphis would be a last add if they absolutely had to do it.

SMU is a bad fit for Cal and possibly SDSU. Word on the MWC board is the NCAA had to cover SDSU’s travel to the Final Four with Herr Newsom’s travel ban to Texas.
