I get that. I don't think that's a result of people in the community that used to show up for Cajuns games pulling support and going east, though.

I know several fans that are all UL, but don't come to many games anymore. They'll watch from home. The reasons for that are numerous like we've talked about before and will surely recap as football season approaches and we get an idea of season ticket sales.

Yea, I'm not built that way. I've never had a backup team in case my favorite sucked. Now there are franchises I respect, but I would never become a fan that had to watch them daily, or weekly.

Astros fans since 1968 here. That is due to listening to games on KPEL when Gene Elston, Loel Passe, and Harry Calas were broadcasting. Calas went on the Phillies but his son is now part of the Astros TV crew. Top players back then were Joe Morgan (before his Reds days), Bob Watson, Doug Radar, and Jimmy Wynn (Toy Cannon). There are plenty of others like me still around.

Matt Miguez just announced the changes. He reported he will still be with the station but in a new and exciting role. They are not ready to announce that role as of yet. His partner indicated he would still be on air at times. I wonder if he will do more live coverage of games and give progress reports as well as video highlights on Twitter. That is just my guess. No actual clue of what his role will be.

That is on lack of public season ticket drive and not reflective of actual interest.

If they had actual tickets in hand from a season ticket drive they would use them.

Since UL only markets to Lafayette and ignores Acadiana, that number represents about 7% of the locals.

It is a low water mark but not nearly representative of what can be.

I hope everyone has been reading some of my LinkedIn responses to all of the different groups that UL Lafayette us to death. Some have changed, some did not. They instead call me a bully. I will not stop with correcting these idiots until the name is correct. You should not stop either!

By way of comparison, in 2015 LSU had an SEC game in Tiger Stadium where season tickets were not involved and only 42,058 were in attendance.

Since LSU is hypermarketed to the whole state that represents 1% of their market.

A low water mark to be sure but certainly not indicative of overall interest.

The first thing you see entering Lafayette from the West is Don’s flying the LSU flag directly above the UL flag. That sentiment is woven into the fabric of this city.
Best Stop is a UL supporter
