NCAA needs to address the portal. They need to go back to a one year bench rule if transfer out. This would end nearly all of the poaching.

One year bench rule for the portal, and one year sit out rule for coaches voluntarily leaving before fulfilling their contract. Game would get much more stable.

Last season attendance just went “poof”. The entire season was a task just to get to 6-6. I’m very happy Maggard and company are being proactive. But start out meh like last year, the results are the same.

A season opening road win will always spike interest.

What that interest looks like will depend on how aware marketing has made the general public of the upcoming football season.

Neither Napier nor Des are rah-rah coaches that get fans excited. Our best attendance was with Hud who excited everybody.

Des is an alum and a local which should alone be able to fire up the fan base. But, he is going to have to get more excitable, do commercials, find ways to get fans and students fired up about UL football. And, of course, win. Just hosting a game won't do it.
