Last season attendance just went “poof”. The entire season was a task just to get to 6-6. I’m very happy Maggard and company are being proactive. But start out meh like last year, the results are the same.

I was talking with SlickRick last night at the softball game and he made a great point about kids that are in the portal. We all know that Des doesn't want to use the portal, but he will have to at some point. SlickRick suggested any current kid in the portal that UL previous offered should be re offered again.

I can understand the concern to bring in someone "un-vetted" by our staff, but we'd be crazy not to reach out to anyone in the portal that's been offered by UL if he can fill a spot of need. I hope we are at least doing this.

Did Des reach out to Trey Fite or did he come here on his own? Trey was committed to us before he flipped to SMOO.

I think it would be even more important to reach out to kids who actually committed.

We are now a farm team for P5s. Get used to the saying 'One and Done". Kid has one year of success here and he portals out. I'm done with college athletics!

NIL is not going away. At some point, they might find a way to enforce real punishments for pre-portal tampering, which is a HUGE problem right now. ESPNU was talking this morning about how it is an open secret of how multiple P5 programs have been recruiting Texas QB Maalik Murphy to ENTER the portal simply off of his Spring game performance. Thin kinda stuff will lead to sanctions at some point. They might even instill some sort of NIL cap for a program.

Until that comes about, to bring sanity back to the situation, they need to place a waiting period on the other end of the portal. It's the only way to stop the bleeding right now.
