And we had to land in new Iberia last night

That was planned due to maintenance at the LFT airport. New Iberia has one of the longest runways in the country from the old military base there. It was considered one of Russia’s top targets during the Cold War time if actual war would have broken out.

I can't buy into the "what ifs" of traveling for 4 hours. I could probably come up with 100 reasons never to leave my house.

If there were a little adversity it would draw the team together, weird how those things work.

The mind set was it was a school night and those kids had class the day they left and the Friday after the game. They chose to fly to get them home at a decent hour to get to class.

Yeah, it's a pretty weak excuse. I mean, by the time they boarded team buses, I imagine it was at least 11 PM. Then if they flew back from Ellisville. That would have been close to midnight by the time they got to the airport & offloaded buses & boarded the plane. Then fly back to Lafayette puts them on the ground about 12:40. then board the buses & get back to the complex 1:15, or 1:30 as opposed to boarding buses at 2300 hours & sleeping for 4 hours until the buses arrive on campus @ 3 AM? Now, if they flew back from Gulfport that is even more asinine. As a matter of planning, I would much rather take a bus than a plane If I travel for 4 hours, or less, especially if there is onboarding & offboarding to do from buses.

I think they actually flew into gulf port. I assume it’s where they departed from as well. Taking a plane for a trip to Hattiesburg just says big time to me. It’s what the school with P5 budgets do. You wanna be with the big boys start acting like them.

That's how slow some of you nimrods are. I don't give a good flying dump about the transportation they took. What I care about is the "we're better than thou" mentality they took with them when they planed, trained & automobiled their way to stump jumper country. It's the mentality you take Einstein & Von Braun. The Ragin Cajun football team went to Mississippi with a jet set attitude & got a country butt whipping for their lack of efforts.
