I agree with you but generally, factors such as whether the bat passes the front of the plate or the batter pulls their wrists back are considered in the ruling. "Some" umpires prefer to use the "breaking the wrists" criterion as the method to decide a checked swing: if the wrists "rolled over", a swing occurred.
These umpires this weekend at home plate were bad except the Saturday guy. They lost track of outs, pitch counts, etc...I hope this crew doesn't work the conference tournament games. Everyone knows Jourdyn didn't come close to swinging regardless of the ruling/criteria.
