I say let’s do all three!!! 2 Gators and a Acadian!! It doesn’t have to be a actual mascot!! Just dress a man up in some old timey colonial outfit and a ole timey gun! Have all three on a airboat coming out for games, and the guy who is The Acadian is we can get him cooking during tailgates!

A gator mascot makes perfect sense with Cypress Lake on campus. It would help tie in the athletic and academic campus. I especially like the name Louie and Ana! What about allowing the fans, alumni, and students voting on it? This would create buy in and support for the mascot. The problem with Cayenne is that it was decided for us by an out of state marketing firm. Let the cULture decide!

THIS. now that’s the way to leverage our beautiful culture. I keep thinking about the Oklahoma Sooners and the pioneers on horse and buggy with rifles. We have a rich culture too that not many people outside of Louisiana are even aware of.

Anyone remember when the UL Opera Theatre did a production about the Acadians? It was marvelous and a tear jerker. They used those costumes too. Love the history we have.

And yes, I really like the airboat idea, and agree that there are a LOT of possibilites we could come up with. And I also say why not have a 'beausoliel' type figure to go with the gators. Here are some pics that were posted in the 2019 thread:

I had the idea to work a swamp into the design of the new Cajun Field. A poster on this board told me I needed to get off the drugs.

Imagine a swamp with some gators, including Louis and Ana, between a new visitor's locker room and the field on the north side of Cajun Field. Visitors gotta cross a bridge to get into the stadium.
