Cajuns Crushing SLU now. Good to see
WAAYYY better 2nd half. Thank goodness
Nice way to respond to the early struggles.
Game plan was to shoot the three often because of the style defense SLU plays in the half court. At least that was what told to people by Mike Murphy in the premium drink section. Problem early in the game was the Cajuns were not getting into the proper shooting stance before releasing the shot. Once they started setting their feet and squaring up, their percentage went up quite a bit. Turnover problem in the first 10 minutes was so discouraging that people would have understood if anyone had walked out or tuned out. Huge turnaround in game occurred when they got that problem under control. Less dribbling and more passing led to our highest assist number this year. Only 4 turnovers in second half, holding SLU to below 40 percent in second half, and a good free throw percentage were also positives. Whenever you score 98 points you did something well. Jalen Johnson scoring 26 points with shots inside and out is also encouraging. Going forward, these slow starts have to be a concern. Seems we are working from behind at the under 12 timeout in almost every game. That also discourages the fan base. Need to find an answer for that issue soon.
Good job Cajuns!
Per Warren Nolan our current RPI is 281, NET is192, SOS is 335.
Our best win is over RPI 217 Youngstown. Worst loss is to RPI 213 Wyoming.
SLU is RPI 341.
FWIW Nolan projects us to have a 10-21 record, 5-15 in conference play.
He also projects us to have 0 wins in quadrants 1, 2 and 3.
I expect his projection is somewhat pessimistic. I think we will be about 9-11 in conference and 15-16 overall.
