UL signs star Houston RB

 CLUTE — . . . . Yobes Walker is heading to Division I University of Louisiana.

“It’s a dream come true. It really is,” Walker said. “I’ve always wanted to play in college and now I’m getting that chance. I’m blessed.”

Walker will join the Ragin’ Cajuns after wrapping up his four-year varsity career with the Buccaneers with a special senior season where he led the Houston area in rushing with 2,174 yards on 324 carries and 17 touchdowns.

He ran for more than 200 yards in six games — against Foster (227), Angleton (242), Clear Creek (298), Alvin (287), Galveston Ball (235) and Clear Lake (224) — and totaled 5,647 yards and 56 touchdowns during his four seasons at Brazoswood.

So this player was a late recruit. Is he academically eligible? Is he going to join the team this Fall or will he be a grey shirt? I wonder why he was not announced in February. Reminds me of another late recruit. I think it was William Sims who signed with the Cajuns very late out of Georgia and chose the Cajuns over Colorado about 3 months after the signing day. There has to be a story there somewhere.

CajunT where you at with the info. on this kid. I looked him up on scout.com and he was a 2 star RB ranked #195 in the nation. 6 foot 202 lbs. and runs a 4.50 40. He was being recruited by Miami, TCU, and Georgia Tech last season.

I take this is a replacement for losing Louis Beal now we need to find a JUCO DT to replace the loss of Ryan Glazer.

Just watched the video and I like what I see.

Looks to be a combo back with slightly better than average speed with the ability to slip through holes and also put his head down and fall forward after contact.

Comparison: I say a mix between Tyrell Fenroy and John Benard. He runs up right in the open field with some speed like Benard but is able to slip through holes and fall forward like Fenroy.

I was told to sit on the info last week. He is the most highly decorated RB the Cajuns have gotten to come into the program. That does include Fenroy. There is a long story about his recruitment and why he did not sign, but we are lucky to get this kid. I will post his interview, today or tomorrow. Don't get too caught up in his 2 * rating, he was rated higher last season. This is a kid that rushed for over 5,700 yards and 56 td's in Texas 5A football over his career.
