Exactly what does holding somebody accountable mean if the job isn't at stake?

All I know is he shouldn’t have had an extension worth a net five years.

Asking for a coach to perform at a higher level doesn’t always mean that he/she will suddenly get canned unless those performances repeat themselves consistently. What I’ve seen is a coaching staff that recently had a good year in 2017-2018 but put all of their eggs in that basket. If seasons like this continue, then yes. That seat will get hotter. But for now, we will have to sit here and muster the justifications of winning 19 games against lackluster competition and finishing 5th in this conference.

The fact remains that we have one NCAA tournament appearance in 9 seasons. And we are currently 8-8 in our conference tournament. Not good.

I am most disappointed by the windfall of excuses and spin. Here are the facts:

1 conference tourney appearance in 10+ years
Losing record against top 200 RPI
AWFUL home schedules for a decade
Apathy at an all time high

That should come as no surprise. In basketball we have pretty much a Southland mentality. It is more important to the social club fans and to the coaches and administrators to play McNeese and Nichols than it is to improve the program.

ACU is trying to put the heat on the SLC. Being a private university, they went sit down with Butler and created a model. ACU doesn’t have the resources Butler does, but they have a plan. Only time will tell.

ACU has pretty substantial resources. Lots of Permian Basin oil money in their alumni base. They aren't TCU or Baylor rich, but they aren't paupers. $425,000,000 endowment.

You can’t talk about basketball being the number two money generating sport in the hierarchy. The pot of gold is at the end of the rainbow in MBB. If you never get to the end, you don’t get paid...

Basketball has the POTENTIAL to be the number 2 money maker here, but we haven’t reached that potential nearly enough in the last 25 years..

Think about that. TWENTY FIVE YEARS. We’ve graduated 20+ classes of potential fans and donors while basketball has been mired in irrelevance. Is it a wonder why apathy is so high and the social club rules the roost?
