Defense was lacking at times but that was usually when we subbed quite a bit. I noticed after VI scored on a few consecutive possessions, timeout was called. Shortly after that Stroman went back into the game and suddenly we started getting stops again. He is the leader of the team. Of course going on the road vs 2 Top 10 teams as we are about to do is a whole different animal. What I want to see is how they respond when those teams make a run and their crowd gets into it. Do they have enough mental tougness to continue to fight at those points and the focus to play the way you are supposed to.
While we’re way more talented than VIU, I was impressed by their skill and athleticism. NAIA or not this is a talented team.

Saw that SLU Lions got upended by around 30 points in Baton Rouge. I’m hoping we’re going to win in Hammond by 20+.

I drive there and park by the ticket windows. Is that close enough?

Saying it’s loads better than the last few years is a mighty low bar.
I will wait and reassess after watching some of the games other Sun Belt schools do on their own. I know in the past the two Georgia schools have produced their own games for ESPN3 and have had some commentators that were pretty clueless, hopefully everyone steps their game up, I’m pretty excited about get the chance to watch almost every game this year.

One thing that I was excited about when I first looked at Hayes Juco stats from last year was that he could score in a variety of ways. If I remember correctly he had the 12th highest number of free throw attempts in all of Juco last year so he clearly likes to attack inside.

Another thing that I think last night showed is that we have a true back up PG for the first time in a long time. I think Wesley will be a solid contributor both this season and beyond. I’m glad he gets a season to learn from Stroman as well.

He has good feet and athleticism. Needs more strength....has a nice outside shot....he has,a shot to be a solid player down the road. He won't gain a lot of weight but could add 20 or so pounds....just IMO doesn't have the frame to pack on a lot. If he gets into the neighborhood of a Todd Hill type player I'd be estatic.

Don't think he'll ever jump like Todd.

But the kid is going to cause matchup problems down the road with his ability to shoot from downtown.
