Despite looking the better side for much of the match, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team suffered a 2-1 double overtime loss to Texas State on Friday night at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
Both the Ragin' Cajuns (1-7-2, 0-2-0 SBC) and Bobcats (4-5-0, 2-0-0 SBC) tallied 13 shots in the contest including six on frame. Sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Ryan had four saves in the match, while freshman Kacie Pou had a career-high five shots and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ragin' Cajuns held their opponent scoreless in the first half for the sixth time this season as the game remained knotted at 0-0 at the half.
Louisiana grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the 69th minute when Madysin Girouard lifted a shot over the head of the Texas State keeper for her first goal of the season.
The lead would be erased in the 79th minute on a header goal by Kaylee Davis off of a shot that hit the crossbar by Genesis Turman to make the score 1-all.
In the second overtime period, Ally Kewish collected a pass from Kelly Barbalias and beat a defender before slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the net for the game-winner for Texas State.
