Well Bryce Washington was a stud in HS and a 3* out of Brother Martin (I think). He was rated as a top 10 player in the state too. He wasn’t really under the radar.

I found a Times Picayune article that had Washington ranked 12th in the state as a Senior, behind both Plaisance (7th) and Stove (4th). I think it is fair to say he overachieved. I think a factor in Bryce's success is he had to go up against Long in practice for 2 years. I hope the same can be said for Trajan Wesley battling Stroman this year. I think Wesley can be one of those diamond in the rough type recruits. I also think that potential is there for Gladney and Lafayette as well. Expectations seem to already be high for Julien.
By all accounts, Julien will be the most impact ready freshman out of the group. He played in a great program at Madison Prep. They lost their top player (Josh Leblanc) and he stepped up and led them to a state title. He also got 3A player of the year. From what I understand, he had a bigger senior year than possibly expected as they were going to rely on Leblanc more. I think if he had this type of success his junior year, he would have been a higher rated recruit. I'm extremely excited about his potential here. We need athletic wings who can get up the court and score from various spots.
I saw Julien play a few times last year. When his knee is 100%, he will be one of our best players, if not THE best.
Yeah, I think Julien will be a cornerstone of this program for the next few years. I actually hope we don't see him this season just to let that knee get as healthy as possible for the future. That just backs up my point that I think expectations are high for him. I was just trying to say I think the other 3 freshman in this class all have the potential to be the type we look back on in 4 years and say they exceeded expectations. Gladney looks to be super athletic but he probably needs to develop his shooting. Lafayette looks to have some skills and obviously has the height. With some added muscle he can be a solid (no pun intended) big man which are hard to come by in the Sun Belt. Wesley just seems like a scrappy little guy that knows how to play, which is just what I want out of a PG.
