I would think using a wood bat has much more of an affect on bat speed with somebody built like Cantrelle.

Not bat speed so much as having a smaller margin of error for making contact. He played very well last summer with a wood bat. Baseball can be a funny game. He could just be in a bad streak. He is also still very young and playing against top competition.
