Cajun Field: UL's Maggard wants 'Wow Effect' function

Anyone who is not interested in our common goal, which is to progress this athletic program to unprecedented standing nationally, can ____ right off. I don’t care how green their money is.

How do you know they don’t? They go about things differently or maybe they work 70 hours a week and raising 3-4 kids and choose to simply enjoy a Saturday afternoon at a football Game with their kids. If all you want are the super freak fans that eat sleep breathe Cajun athletics then we only need about a 10k seat stadium. If you want a large fan base then it’s gomna take all kinds..die hard, fair weather, casual, drunks, tailgaters, people who think you score runs in football...everybody.

Yeah, they have a right to be happy with the status quo. But they’re going to get called out when they openly complain to me when Maggard is trying to do something good for our athletic program. My donated money is just as green as theirs.

There is NOTHING wrong with having concerns. This is a very good comment.

I think my point here is Robe knows the bar is not being met. And, I have confidence he'll do what is necessary to fix it.

I cannot guarantee his solution and yours or someone else's will be the same. But as long as it gets fixed, I don't really care.

I agree with this post... The last couple of years have not been up to Robe standards. The hold em accountable crowd thinks.. implies... a change will make it better. So Ilook at it this way. We ALL want regionals...supers.. and Omaha.... so who is best to make it happen.... I happen to believe its Coach Robe.... The faceless.. nameless... "other guy" is always better... A a Saints fan I have lived through the same process.... three years of no playoffs... I believed Sean Peyton and Mickey Loomis had a plan and it produced in 2017.... Today the Saints are one of the favs to make it to the super Bowl... there were many who said... hold him accountable. three years of no playoffs is unacceptable...

I think we have the best guy already in place...

I love the target. This year will be a challenge. After one year of Billy, a team we can be proud of, more and more great future news and an uptick in the economy... especially with the new marketing team & outreach success.. 14k will happen.

I am optimistic as well the 14000 will happen. In time. Just won’t be upset if they fall a little short this year.

While I completely agree with everything you just posted, let's just say that you would be totally surprised by some people who criticize Maggard and his staff for trying. It's mind boggling.

The causal fan will be FOR the advancement of the program if they’re spending their money to be entertained by the program. I’m talking about the people you mentioned that want to keep things the way they are, keep the parking spot for free, show up 15 min before the game and play SLC teams so they can yell at their former classmates... “GO TO HELL McNeese!” 🙄 Give me a freaking break...

You are right, it does take all kinds. Perhaps you will remember that when saying what you did, because accepting someone with a different opinion than yours is not your cup of tea. Let me just say this, if a person is not contributing to this program financially at some level, then I really don't care to hear their opinion. If someone is contributing and has an opinion, I don't agree with them. And I can challenge them, just like you without bringing up some nonsense about them not being involved in the project.

Anyone here complaining about Maggard moving the program forward, paying for parking or not playing enough SLC teams? If there are people like this, I haven’t seen them on this board.
