Building a program the right way......
“One opinion” from the outside looking in; this staff is focusing in on positions of need, greatly expanded our geographical reach, assumed every kid no matter how high he’s rated or what major college(s) recruit him will listen to our to our pitch and have an interest, intent on convincing them to visit while utilizing multiple Coach in home visits to increase our chances of achieving hard commitments. Obviously Billy feels very strongly about the qualities of each and every coach he’s recruited to his staff and the impacting stories each can share with prospective recruits that will impact them and their families.
One thing that I believe they are good at is evaluation and projection. Is he a good player and does he fit into our program. They look to be very good at "riding for the brand"... (can't help it...I'm a big Westerns movie fan)...selling the University, the football program and its future. Something that they are apparently doing too is getting the parents in on their child's official visit. I can't emphasize enough how important that is. These next two days are the worrisome part....its supposed to be a dead period until Wednesday morning at 7am but there are a lot of skunks out there roaming around in the weeds...here's hoping we hang onto the whole class.
The first pre-signing day recruit I ever saw Tweet "The University of Louisiana" without "Lafayette" was after Napier was hired. And I've seen a bunch of them. That tells me something. It was striking and noticeable to me right away. Not because of the name thing, but because it made clear to me that these guys are serious about building a brand that's recognized on the recruiting trail.
