There's a lot for them to think about. I guarantee you that they could and would welcome a new coaching staff... and flourish as a team.

If Michael's health had forced him to leave last or this year, all would have stayed under a new coach. There had to be space in the sisterhood that Mike did not belong. There has to be a bond among athletes that transcends the coaches.

I wonder what piranha coaches out there are already taking advantage of this and are poaching on some of our athletes.

We don’t KNOW what the “options” to transfer are—it will depend on WHERE each player thinks they want to go. What we DO know is that these are very good students, who I would assume plan to graduate eventually from college. What Jay speculated, and I tend to agree with is they will complete their semester to get their credits, and then see if a university that they’d like to transfer to would ACCEPT their credits towards graduation. If they’re so emotionally distraught as to throw this semester (academically) down the drain, so be it. Hopefully a new coach will be in place soon so decisions can be made as quickly as possible......

She could go anywhere she wanted. I really like DJ. It seriously bums me out to think that she might not stay.

No one is leaving till the semester is over, lots of time to re-recruit.

    I totally agree with you.

But, just to maybe see another side of it. If you worked for a company and you see upper management totally mistreat and fire a coworker, on trumped up charges, who you know very well and you know for sure he was giving 100% and producing outstanding results. You may consider the next opertunity with another job if one came along right after seeing that.

I'm not sayin this is exactly the case here, but it may be perceived that way by some.

I think those who perceive something broken was fixed will want to stay. Those who feel something just got broken will want to leave.

UNLESS, the new coach can sell a new "fix" to all.

I went through a coaching change here and it was a disaster. I know both sides of it. I made the wrong choice when I was a 2 sport athlete here. I’m speaking from experience, not hypotheticals.

This university is like no other. Especially when you are talking about baseball and softball. They may be able to go somewhere else and excel but they won’t get the same experience as they had here. Just ask other athletes that have transferred into the program. It’s the fans and culture not the coaches.

You could probably tell stories in both directions of players coming and going with coaching transitions.

I suspect a lot of what happens will be influenced by how good of a communicator the next coach is.
Think Habetz could bring some in in addition to keeping nearly all!!!

Nonsense! Screw your former friend and coworker! Right after I got off the phone wishing him all the best... I'd run right into the boss's office and tell him how much of a tool that former coworker was. You never ever pass up the opportunity to angle for a raise and a promotion! Come on man!
