Nobody in this conference, other than App, should talk smack about attendance, especially UL.

Less than a decade of winning doesn’t create a large fan base. Right now these midweek games are to build the national brand. Which is vital for corporate sponsors.

With the new additions to the SBC expect us to have more Saturday home games. Once the stadium is renovated all will be well.
This is correct.... The mid week games are brutal for families with kids... AND we are entering a new phase of Cajun football... Better conference (same but better).. More attractive games (Hard to get excited by Ga State.. sorry).. a beautiful modern stadium comming.... FINALLY, and this is important, we don't have the tradition of playing better teams and games that mean something.

Joe Average was content watching the game on TV last night... But when we are playing USM or Marshall in a meaningful game on a late Saturday afternoon the place will be packed...

As coach Sab... errr Napier.. says.. it's a process

Keep talking Cajuns football... Don't fall into a&m@br is the ONLY game in town...

Where does UL rank on Thursday after Saturday games?

Oh, that's cute. First of all, do you really put any stock in a guy that can't spell "Ragin?"

Also, let me hit you with some facts. Covid Carolina's attendance #s this year in no particular order:

    18,674
    11,689
    15,261
    17,697

The worst crowd of our season is better than your average! I don't have twitter. Post that, please.

Plus, we had nearly 29k for an 11 am kickoff. Sorry that you can't fit that in your stadium.

Also it's a picture from the visitor's side which is always lousy. At least when USM and Troy come we'll get some visitors.

I expect a good sized contingent from ULM because they think they have a chance.

    Ways to get 100% attendance:
    1. Our Lady of Lourdes Dome at Cajun Field.
    2. No ESPN/TV games so the program can play on Saturday nights.
    3. LSU closes or moves to another state.
    4. Cajuns have equal shot to play for a National Championship.
    5. Free beer.

Uhhh…. Sorry, waking from my dream.

Just to put attendance into perspective, I took a look at the attendance for some games in peer conferences. While we need to do better that 16k last night, the nearly 29k for an 11am kickoff is better than most. Here we go.

Let's start with the midweek Maction from Tuesday and Wednesday this week:

Central Michigan @ Western Michigan: 13,137
    Ball State @ Akron:7,683
    Miami (OH) @ Ohio: 15,940
    Eastern Michigan @ Toledo: 14,997
    NIU @ Kent State: 6,076

Our worst crowd beat all of those. The MAC is like a rivalry game every week and several of those were matchups of teams that were .500 or better.

Now onto some games from last week.

    Navy @ Tulsa: 16,279
    #2 Cincy @ Tulane: 17,012
    UCF @ Temple: 19,595
    FIU @ Marshal: 18,466
    USM @ MTSU: 10,721
    Hawaii @ Utah State: 19,219
ECU has a nice crowd of 34k or so and App had 29k or something like that.
This one really stood out. A now ranked Fresno State vs #21 SDSU:11k and some change.

While I think we need to take care of our own affairs, but this gives you a picture what what it's like in the G5 at the moment.

You're right, the optics are much better in a smaller venue. Still, for me, the standard should be 31-32k. Our Peer University does this (Not all the time) but gets closer to 30k regardless of the day or time. The schedule for this game has been out for a few months, people had time to plan. WHEN WILL ATTENDING UL GAMES BECOME A PRIORITY!!! Until then, just expect most games to be Lafayette'd up. And don't hand us the garbage of there is more to do in Lafayette. UL fans and students are soft. PRIORITY, IT HAS TO BE A PRIORITY TO ATTEND HOME GAMES NO MATTER THE DATE OR TIME. Have already seen to many ______t head excuses...and the students should be ashamed for not showing up. Looks like the ones who did had a great time!

thanks for the work...however, When you threw ECU and App in there, you see the proof that reaching a goal of 31k can be done. Actually, I don't see how comparing our apples to those oranges on that list makes much sense. None of those other teams are ranked, btw, or were playing with a 7 game win streak.

If there is anyway we can have a random mixture of red and white seating peppered throughout the stadium that would help the illusion of a thicker crowd. I’ve seen enough of the shiny metal bleachers and concrete…we are a AP Top 25 program and need to show up like it. Otherwise greatly reduce capacity.
Why lower the bar though? Acadiana needs to rise up and fill the 40k.

true, but if stadium is empty shouldnt the price go down?

for example, baltimore orioles a few years ago (and may still have) 10 or 15 buck walk up tickets only available last hour before game time…. maybe cajuns could go with 8, last 30 minutes?

p.s. do student’s still get in free with ID and are they able to escort a non student for $5?

I highlighted the Fresno State at #21 SDSU. A 6-2 team vs. a 7-0 team. 3 days later they were both ranked in the CFP poll. 11,034 in the stands. That's actually on the high side for a great team.

I know it's one comparison, but I was just looking at G5s from last week.

Why are we even mentioning that unranked team here?
