COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Lafayette Wildcatters hope the third time will be the charm tonight when they take on the Columbus Lions in first round Southern Indoor Football League playoff action.
The Wildcatters will bring a 6-5 record into the contest, while the home team comes in at 8-3.
It was just a few weeks ago when the Wildcatters dropped a tough 58-55 decision to Columbus in the Cajundome. That turned out to be their second loss to the Lions after losing 54-26 here earlier in the season.

The Lions had tasted disappointment in the playoffs the last two years and were determined not to let it happen again. Although the Lions lead the Southern Indoor Football League in almost every meaningful category, their goal coming in to the game was to start fast. Start fast they did as they returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and then intercepted a Juan Joseph pass and returned it for a touchdown to jump out to a 14-0 lead barely two minutes into the game.
