Wonder what year since LR and UTA counted under SBC.

Re: Updated Athletic Revenues
WE would be dead last in new AAC and MWC right behind UAB at $38,351,074

Yeah, but we would have another 50 million as a P6 school.

Shouldn't be, it's reality. This is 2022, so we knew the budget had been cut the prior two years. This is why they can give away things like some demand.

What's the deal with the student fees? If the money is used for student life and experience enrichment programs (athletics included) then what is the issue?

Under the current hamstrung system the students have to vote on fees.
The school is not shy about bringing up fee votes for the university but is very shy about bringing up fee votes for Athletics.
Ironically the administration banked heavily on Athletics to get fees "associated" with the master plan passed, but Athletics recieved none or very few of the proceeds.

And?
James Madison is a suitcase university.
80ish percent live in state and go home on weekends.
72% of their budget comes from student fees.

Cajun kids don’t have suitcases . . .

It's a phrase, not a possession.

Nor do they have fees . . .

Re: Updated Athletic Revenues
Just doing some quick math...
We had a total of 15,219 students (12,950 undergrad & 2,269 graduate) enrolled for the Fall 2022 semester.
JMU's Revenue was $24,778,893 higher than ours.
Are you recommending we charge our students an additional $1,628 per year ($814 per semester) in student fees to close that gap?
Using only undergraduate student numbers: $1,913 per year ($957 per semester)

Sorry correction, the USA Today chart shown in post #1 says over 78% (not 72%) of James Madison's athletic budget comes from student fees.

JMU Student Enrollment Fall 2022: 22,224 (20,346 undergraduate/1,878 graduate)
78.7% of $57,800,447 = $45,488,952 from student fees
$2,047 per student in fees per year.
$2,236 per student, assuming only undergraduate, per year. $1,118 per semester.

The $9,000 they spend advertising their degree (over four years) is the best deal they will ever see as a graduate.
Graduates of James Madison will reap ten fold from advertising the front porch of their university.

UL, doing more with less since 1898.
An R1 university. Successful athletic programs. Especially in everyone's recent memory.
A minimal student fee wouldn't be that much in the grand scheme. Sell the benefit to those who will pay it. I mean, I'm sure they have, but student fees in 2023 just seem like the norm.

I believe we are talking a lot of apples, oranges and a couple figs . . .

If we start collecting student fees and only 7K reported fans attend the games will it even matter?
