Absolutely. No comparison whatsoever between those two excellent college RBs. I wasn't sure if Fenroy would measure out when he was tested by the NFL. But it didn't surprise me when he didn't. He had assets in the RB categories at enough of a combined level that made him a great RB in the system we used (most incredible QB/RB combo athlete misdirection handoff ever in college football). But Fenroy didn't peak in any particular RB category (speed, size, cutting ability). Eli is vastly more "shifty", he's actually by the measurements of the NFL "a bigger back" than Fenroy (Fenroy was a "weight lifter" for size - not natural frame size), Eli is quicker... and a very big asset Eli brings to the table is he is a phenomenal receiver. That adds more than doubles his value to the NFL. He can be used as a RB, receiver out of the backfield, slot receiver, and kick/punt return specialist. There really is no comparison to the two. But again... both are fantastic collegiate RBs.
Fenroy was utiltized precisely for what he could offer UL. Eli was squandered last year.

I've got news for you... every person that played (or even excelled) at a sport is not the most knowledgable person in that sport. I know scratch golfers that can't teach golf. I know average golfers that are phenomenal teachers. I know people that chose to be engineers that would kick the living ____ out of just about anyone in any other profession... but they chose engineering. You don't get to do everything in this short life... but that doesn't mean because you didn't... that you wouldn't destroy others in the "smarts category" of any profession.
The proof of greatness is not in participating. It's in being great. I want Boomer to prove to be a great mind of football. I'm hammering on him to get that started on our forum before it's too late. I fear all we will remember him by is his obsession with secondary sexual characteristics. It's scary what a little information can do to some people.
PS I really like him. If I thought I was doing harm... I'd stop.

How do you explain kids that play Canadian ball and them make it in the NFL? Or kids that come up through Arena ball. The NFL missed on those kids because they are blinded to intangibles. They are fixated on metrics. As you point out, there is a lot of money at stake, and they are conservative - afraid to make a mistake, afraid to take a chance - because of that high stakes money. They pass on a lot of good kids because of that. You and I may have legitimate differences of opinion regarding Fenroy's ability to play in the NFL, but I'll fight anyone who says that Andy Martin did not belong there.
BTW, you can make the same "no way on God's green Earth" argument about college ball, and by extension, Hud. There is the same high stakes money involved. People's livelyhoods are at stake. And yet, we can see first hand that sometimes life gets in the way of those pure arguments. Personal biases, conservatism, personal preferences and even plain old myopia make people do things that may be against their best interests.

----Well again the thing that ____es me off is that the ad hominems take place over factual dialogue----I don't get wrapped up in the trying to get my point to an extent of not being objective----I have spoken to former players and some now coaches that think exactly with me on the QB situation---they love UL and want the best and to some it was a no brainer to start Nixon---I try to look to the total situation --am I always correct??? hell no but I am many times right----and I do read up and talk to coaches about different offenses and defenses----and I HATE to say something bad about a player since I was one and coached them----that is why my opinions deal more with the praise of some and not the obvious flaws of others----but yea, I don't know who these people are, but think it better to keep the discussion to the topic and back up opinions with facts and reasoning and stay away from arguments that are considered false such as "post factum ergo propter factums" and ad hoimnems!!! Thanks guys!!!
