Awh schit, y'all can understand what Bitter is saying? I just thought my AM antenna was messing with my station like it always does. Sounds like he always has a mouth full of extra crunchy peanut butter.....

I was a Beaker Street fan which originated in Little Rock AR on 50000 watt AM station KAAY. I'm pretty sure that station was also my first experience with Dr Demento.
My former boss at Abbeville Broadcasting told me KROF 960 was offered a 50,000 watts license early in its history.
They declined because the daytime signal was already incredible and their listeners went to bed early.
Ps at the time of the offer they were the only 960 in the country

They missed a national audience.
---Hey T-Bine---I was in an Abbeville Players deal ---(the picture show at Mag Square) and I was a DJ along with David Pierce
Part of one of the lines was what KROF stood for---can't remember the year it started, but thought that was pretty cool about RO&F
BTW where is that Johnson fellow that wrote for the Meridonal and was on radio at times???
Grew up right outside Little Rock. Obviously KAAY was radio station of choice. When I came to U(S)L it seemed everyone down here listened to KAAY at night. They would play songs and air artists you would not hear anywhere else. Some great rock n roll memories for a lot of people.
Floyds Record Shop in Ville Platte was a midnight sponsor. Like I said 960 missed a great opportunity for a national audience and national sponsors if they passed up a clear channel license.
