Thread: Radio Waves

  1. Default Radio Waves

I saw Dave Shultz may be putting together a segment on his show to keep Cajun fans up to date with players currently in the MiLB. Interviews and the whole bit.

If he was smart he has a great opportunity to grab a whole segment of Cajuns fans right now. I listen more and more since he covers is more and appears to be more interested in our program. At least they actually talk about sports.

I actually pitched him the idea on twitter and he ran with it. I basically said what you just posted. I listen much more now.

Yeah, it's TTT day with ESPN1420. Turn The Tuner.

I'm finding myself just turning off a lot of sports talk driving to and from work. Not a DS fan. ESPN 1420 losing me with TTT and that Friday crap song in the pm. If you're sending out a warning @ TTT before starting, that should be a clue.

I wasn't a Shultz fan for a long time, but ZZ they have much better Cajun coverage now days, and the content overall is MUCH better. He's got some quality guests on a regular basis. The Sport of Politics segment is very good, and if you're an Astro fan, he talks a lot of that. His segments are to the point and organized. It's not incoherent rambling about nonsense for hours. And best of all, the man speaks english.. Dave has really worked his way into my listening day.

The only time I'll even consider listening now is 9-12 on weekdays and Saturday mornings during baseball. The rest is usually unbearable and irrelevant or repetitive. 10-11 has been the time slot I enjoy the most currently on 1420 but lately i start out on 103.7 and it just stays... So I guess I do like it enough not to change it.

Terrible Tune Tuesdays makes me want to take my seat belt off, put my blinker on, and plunge into the bayou......it's brutal, it's terrible, and how can anyone think it's a good production ON A SPORTS RADIO SHOW?

Two years ago, I may have been the harshest Schultz critic I know. He seems to have much more respect for our program now. The show has certainly grown on me and I find myself listening (and enjoying) a little more now.

Schultz's show on it's worst day is still 10 times better than anything that airs on 1420AM

I come from a different era. When I hear "Shultz" I hear "I Know Nothing!"

I get TTT is an OCCASIONAL filler for the doldrums of mid summer before the football preseason camps open. Every week, no. And I'll listen to DS and the Astros report and turn off the speculation bs @ UL. Give me facts...anyone. I've started listening to 90.9...keeps me from cursing while driving.

As you know I'm an older fan. I went all in decades ago, motor home @ games before tail gating caught on. Life and health drifted me away from UL. Came back a few years ago. Same old same old. I think the situation is deeper than anyone can imagine. It's the set up of the state system, hard to stand up and be independant. As much as I am unhappy with several things, it could be a hell of a lot worse...imagine a LSU puppet in charge. But I am not "warm and fuzzy" over any of this. Tiger lover on RCAF...fox in hen house, no loyalty. It is up to the younger fans to get a grip on this...whatever it is. Athletic leadership...we get what we pay for. Then again Ulmost hired a dynamic guy...who is now pretty much shelved for a bubba. We're not alone.

All I am 100% sure about is there would not have been utility markings on the ground near the concession area the Monday of the AZ game @ the Tigue if this was not going forward in some form.

And we might not be the only one that is a victim of their system. Look at Coastal...their mascot is a rooster, just like their state premiere university. No pun intended, but I have a feeling CCU and UL are birds of a feather. They have been getting jacked over their football stadium.

I take the Alden Report with a grain of salt. Rule number one when you hire a consultant...you tell the consultant what you want the report to say. That's the part I'm yet to figure out. Only time will show us, speculation on my part won't.

Sorry to rant, been my MO lately.
