was it just me or did nmsu toss up more than one lofty pass that was completed to an open receiver? Even against the wind

I agree he had two bad plays that really hurt drives and other than short yardage I don't have a problem with Haack being the man. As a former QB I will say he holds on to the ball to long and makes questionable throws on third and long but if the receivers are running routes to short I guess that's all he can do. My point is we are playing some bad football it the team fault to include coaches. I mean you run a draw on third and goal from the six with Haack how about throwing the fade to Robinson and see if he can come down with it.

If the performances of this team over the last three games hasn't been enough to open the eyes of even the biggest diehard Cajun fan, then nothing will. This coaching staff needs a major overhaul once this season ends.
Not using this as an excuse. I want to see if Hud had enough sense to consider the changes that would occur about the coming cold front and prevailing winds as the game progressed.

Everything seems out of sync this year, for whatever reason. We don't look like we have the right combination or playing, coaching, and relief from injuries. I don't think we're as bad as we have looked, although things clearly aren't right.
I think the RCAF, the facilities, and the funding is beginning to kick in. This coach has pushed our school to invest in athletics exponentially more than anyone else. We can be good a majority of the time, but not as often as we want. Yet.
If/when Hud moves on, we owe him a debt of gratitude. I also think we owe him any benefit of the doubt regarding his coaching staff, recruiting, etc., after four consecutive best years in program history.
Maybe what we're seeing is a glimpse of just how good the last four years were.

Brazil muffs the last kickoff and just walks away and gave up while another Cajun player had to run over and jump on the ball and kneel. Been saying it all year, attitude reflects leadership. Body language is terrible, and the basics of the game seem too complex for them. Unsure of assignments on defense, inability of the line to hold a block or break one on D, receivers dropping passes, and a missed field goal early and punt late hurt us.
And McNeese State player Trevor Begue(not good enough for our Cajuns) beating man coverage by 3 yards for a receiving TD, running a jet sweep for a TD, and returning a 100 yard KO return for his 3rd TD of the night.

I agree with you! We owe Coach Hud a huge debt of gratitude. I just wish Hud would take responsibility for HIS team. I don't know that I've ever heard Hud say the words, "I, ME, MY" after a loss, but maybe I'm wrong. Good coaches will use those words and take ownership.
Geaux Cajuns!!!

Lamar? Bad FCS team. Really bad. We looked fabulous vs NW State.

Your right. Thank god he doesn't use those words after a win.

We don't owe Hud squat. We've already made him the most overpaid G5 coach in the country. That's more than enough gratitude.
Re: GameTalk: New Mexico St. vs. Louisiana
HUD got everyone (players, fans and administration) to pull in the right direction and gave a glimpse of what could be in Cajun football. Whether he can sustain that is another question but he was the first coach in a long time that got us tantalizing close to where we think we should be.

One was against the wind. I didn't see it until the ball was snapped. The receiver was lined up on the left side near the side line by his bench. No one saw him. He took off and caught the touchdown pass with the nearest defender about 30 yards away. The other I think was just a blown coverage where the receiver was sitting on a five gallon bucket waiting for the ball.......

Haack is a stud and should have been the QB all season. We should have called plays like we did in the 2nd half of last nights game all season. If Nixon was truly a team player he would accept his role as either an H Back or be our big RB. He is too talented to keep on the sidelines, but not a good enough quarterback.
To me the biggest problem all season has been misuse of talent and offensive philosophy. We have the players on the roster to average 40 points per game easily against this schedule. Yet we play like Nississippi State and get Mississippi State results. Middle of the pack in the Sun Belt.
I agree with you but I don't think Nixon is the problem to get on the field I think he would accept any role given I think that's on the coaching staff don't know if they have confidence in the third string guy. After Nixon's first down run I watched he and Haack high five as Haack was coming in. With all the suspect play calling I have to wonder if its just the staff not wanting to move him to RB next time I talk to him I will ask him the hard question.

You are correct about Haack. For anyone on here still doubting him "you are a football moron". Haack is the most accurate passer in Hud's time at UL. Our staff blew this year up by not focusing heavily on Haack and our wide assortment of receivers. The WRing group has first game coordination... and I blame the staff. The run was so clearly opened up by the pass last night, and yet our staff would still waste opening downs with runs up the middle. All successful runs were started with a deadly passing attack.
As for our defense... it is the oddest high and low point player operation I've ever seen. On any given down there's someone making an individual highlight play while another team mate or two has taken the down off. I don't get why we're having the defensive breakdowns we have at this point in the year. That staff isn't an answer to UL / SBC level defensive talent IMO.
Re: GameTalk: New Mexico St. vs. Louisiana
Haack is playing well, and looks to me to be improving. He is not the weak link on the team. There are so many other areas that are lacking, including the coaching.
