Only if it was for a BCS bowl game. (And that ain't happenin' anytime soon.) Anything less would not make a lot of sense.

Not random, just wrong. They all think that the Sunbelt champ must go to the NO Bowl. The clue is always in the adjacent column that typically reads "Sunbelt No. 1 vs CUSA." Since ASU currently leads the conference, most are projecting ASU to the NO Bowl without a second thought. After all, they get to change their projections every week. :)
I bought 20. It's great having Christmas shopping done so early.
Guaranteed payouts are a misnomer. Payouts in almost every bowl (especially the minor ones) are
determined by the no. of tickets you sell. a 750 grand bowl allows you the opportunity to sell tickets up to that value. There is no other bowl available in which we make as much money as New Orleans. After we
collect the half million, we get half of the additional revenue beyond that point. Scott Farmer discussed
this briefly on Jay Walker's show yesterday.
so if that reasoning is correct and the payout is $750,000 and UL keeps the full ticket price that is 12,500 tickets at $60/ticket and half the cover price of an additional 17,500 tickets would be an additional $525,000 or a total of $1,275,000 for the school. Thats a pretty good payout for UL and thats only at 30,000 tickets which should be conservative for a bowl game in New Orleans in a dome that holds over 70,000, and if you use 70,000 seats in the dome and 12500 tickets sold by the visiting team and 12500 tickets used as gimmes and promotional from the venue that still leaves an additional $300,000 based on $40 per ticket and approximatly 15000 tickets still up for grabs.
Also, with 12500 tickets for the opposing team and 12500 tickets for gimmes and the dome hloding 70000 UL would only need to move 45000 tickets to make this basically a sellout New Orleans Bowl
We can still win the conference by beating ULM and stAte. So, the NO Bowl picks the champion for a second straight year and picks UL. If we don't win the conference, we still go bowling and the NO Bowl picks UL instead of the conference champion. Either way, we go to the NO Bowl.
Let's beat ULM and go to 8-2 heading into the championship game vs. stAte.
Your post got me to thinking. Supposedly, this is a $500k bowl payout. They do guarantee a small amount with the rest being tickets.
For conversation, let's say they guarantee $50k. That leaves $450k possible from ticket sales. We expect ticket prices are $60 each; so let's just say they don't give us full value, only $45 for a $60 ticket. That means we would need to sell 10k tickets to reach our $450k "payout".
With these numbers, even being conservative, we should do very well in this bowl game!
What if we goto the cotton bowl?
kidding.
Just reserved my 17!!!!!!!!
The athletic dept doesnt know their head from their _____. Called to reserve tics, but they couldnt tell me the price of tics that i was reserving for $30.. They stated from $70-$120.. Why should i pay that much for tics from UL when i can go to NO bowl website and get them for $40?
If you want to sit in the end zones or the upper deck, then the 49 (40 + 9 fee) tickets are for you. The 69 (60 + 9 fee) will put you on the sideline with the other UL fans. I imagine the reservations will allow you to buy whichever ones you want at the time they call you back.
Simma dahn nah.
1. Establish a Bowl History: shows future bowls how well the Ragin' Cajuns travel to bowl games.
2. Covers Bowl Expenses: revenue generated through tickets sold directly by the University will be used by UL to offset Bowl Game expenses._
3. Best Seats Available: our Ticket Office will be selling the best tickets available along the Ragin' Cajuns sideline. Obviously, this will give you the ability to sit with fellow UL fans.
Anybody have any idea what the biggest # of fans brought by a Belt team was ?????
Being a patriotic American & understanding the right of the public to question the leadership of its institutions in the decision making process, I applaud the discussion on this thread. However, when the topic of why THIS bowl comes up & three reasonable, intelligent, highly informed posters confirm that the AD made the case for buying tickets through the school in PUBLIC, then the questioning of other bowl sights & who gets what money & how, should be brought to an end with a role call vote for all the yeas to establish their approval of such a swift & bodacious move.
My vote is yea, amen, & furthermore, let's take some of this money & continue to pad the pockets of this coaching staff so as to feather those pillows & make it real hard for them to think about spreading their wings to fly away.
"Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns Football Tickets at U. SW LA-Cajun Field" This is the link to UL tickets on the Cajundome ticketmaster page online. They think we are still USL!..... Wow!
