Guaranteed payouts are a misnomer. Payouts in almost every bowl (especially the minor ones) are
determined by the no. of tickets you sell. a 750 grand bowl allows you the opportunity to sell tickets up to that value. There is no other bowl available in which we make as much money as New Orleans. After we
collect the half million, we get half of the additional revenue beyond that point. Scott Farmer discussed
this briefly on Jay Walker's show yesterday.

so if that reasoning is correct and the payout is $750,000 and UL keeps the full ticket price that is 12,500 tickets at $60/ticket and half the cover price of an additional 17,500 tickets would be an additional $525,000 or a total of $1,275,000 for the school. Thats a pretty good payout for UL and thats only at 30,000 tickets which should be conservative for a bowl game in New Orleans in a dome that holds over 70,000, and if you use 70,000 seats in the dome and 12500 tickets sold by the visiting team and 12500 tickets used as gimmes and promotional from the venue that still leaves an additional $300,000 based on $40 per ticket and approximatly 15000 tickets still up for grabs.

Also, with 12500 tickets for the opposing team and 12500 tickets for gimmes and the dome hloding 70000 UL would only need to move 45000 tickets to make this basically a sellout New Orleans Bowl

We can still win the conference by beating ULM and stAte. So, the NO Bowl picks the champion for a second straight year and picks UL. If we don't win the conference, we still go bowling and the NO Bowl picks UL instead of the conference champion. Either way, we go to the NO Bowl.

Let's beat ULM and go to 8-2 heading into the championship game vs. stAte.

Your post got me to thinking. Supposedly, this is a $500k bowl payout. They do guarantee a small amount with the rest being tickets.

For conversation, let's say they guarantee $50k. That leaves $450k possible from ticket sales. We expect ticket prices are $60 each; so let's just say they don't give us full value, only $45 for a $60 ticket. That means we would need to sell 10k tickets to reach our $450k "payout".

With these numbers, even being conservative, we should do very well in this bowl game!

I dont think $60 avg tickets is conservative. Maybe $40. Probably a range too but I dont think $60 would be the avg.

It looks like there are two price tiers for the NOB.
    1st level are $69( $60 + fees)
All other tickets are $49($40 + fees)

You're right; I was thinking I am conservative in the 10k tickets we would sell. But I am very optimistic, if not expecting, we will make our $500k on this game and maybe some extra.

The athletic dept doesnt know their head from their _____. Called to reserve tics, but they couldnt tell me the price of tics that i was reserving for $30.. They stated from $70-$120.. Why should i pay that much for tics from UL when i can go to NO bowl website and get them for $40?
