David Turner was the first name I heard because he and Hud go back to time at Miss. State and are good friends. Turner was let go from Kentucky recently after coaching the DL there, but was hired back at Miss State yesterday. He has 26 years of experience, including a stop at Alabama.

Lance Guidry was the second name I've heard, mainly because he wants to get back to Louisiana and he certainly has proven himself. He is currently looking for a position since he was not retained by Petrino.

In all likelyhood we will be hiring either a dc from a lower level program or a position coach from a higher level. My thoughts are pry and guidry are not legitamate options.

Anyway we could get Ron Roberts to leave his head coaching job at Southeastern to be our DC? Rumor was he almost left for USA to be their DC.

Let's not forget that Lance Guidry was the DC of a WKU team that lost 4 conference games. It seems like his best coaching attributes are his passion and intensity. We already have passion and intensity. Just not as thrilled as others about the possibility of hiring him. Won't necessarily be disappointed though.

If our goal is to win the conference outright, I hope they take very serious consideration on who they want to head up this defense. (Which I'm sure they are)

This exactly. I had Coach Tidwell as both a teacher and coach in high school. Good guy. No doubt has done a fine job as a DC at STM. But hopefully our program is past being an automatic entry for high school coordinators with no other college experience. At least need someone who has carried a proven defense at the DII level.
