This is complete BS. There are a lot of quality assistant coaches at major D1 schools that would take this job in New York second!.

So let just say we go not counting this year but an additional 2-3 more years in a row of not making a regional (that would be 5-6 years total). What difference would it make if he would replace Coach Robe and if he would happen to make a bad hire? At least the AD tired something! So we should just keep a coach because of the success he had 5-6 years earlier?
However, let's hope things get turnaround!

That is true and a lot do not either!

Too much downside risk for the AD to pull that trigger, anyway.

I guess we could be 10-26 vs 17-19.....LOL
Really, I get your point. Regardless, going 3 years in a row without making a regional is totally inexcusable and 4 would be well! Well, I need not say more! The sad part is if this team went 4 years in a row without making a regional there will still be some that will keep finding excuses because they like him!

You don't fire a hall of fame coach just because you think you can get a D1 assistant to take the job. You should go back to the post where you admitted you don't know anything. You get rid of tony when you think you have somebody who can take you where he can't.
Let's hope he does not miss it 6 in a row. I was only stating a if it happen. And my comment of not knowing anything is I am not a baseball coach but you do not have to be a baseball coach to see the crap that is going on. New stadium, missing regional two years in a row and a current losing record with almost 2/3 of the season gone. So ole wise one tell me what you know about baseball? Homer type idiot fans like you are what the problem is! We cannot replace the coach. Did this 10 years ago and most of all that is important is he is my BFF.
So let me ask you this ole wise ball coach, would you rather have Deggs and his staff or Tony and his staff coaching your team today?

I get it your point too. A decent offense gets us regional bids 2017 and 2018. There is a problem, but not too serious to the decision makers. Nobody gets their foot amputated for an ingrown toenail.

We better hope the JUCO's coming in are as good as advertised!

If tony retired, moved on or ran his course here I’d hope deggs would be a candidate.
Pretty sure if you fired Tony that Deggs wouldn't take the job. JMO

I went to school here to and graduated in 1993 so I guess I am now an expert like you now. Oh, I did not have a bother that played here but I did have a few baseball players in my ITECH class so I guess that counts!
And Deggs does not have the skins on the wall like Coach Robe and he should not because he has only been a HC for 5 years counting this year. But he already does have a super regional under his belt. And Coach Robe only has 1 cws appearance in like 30 years as a college coach. So do not act like he has been to several CWS!

Crazy never said he was an expert, but that he is a homer, or a fan, like most of us here.

I guess I do not fall into the Homer group even though I graduated and a fan. If I would not be a fan I would not care about the current situation!

You fall in a group, but to post it here would result in censorship.

I believe you called us homers as a derogatory term to start. If you want to join us as homers you are welcome.

So based on your comment it seems like you do not have a lot of faith in this situation of getting it turned around.
And if so, why, if you do not mine me asking.
And by no means of me asking you this is me thinking you are a Debbie downer!

The situation will get better when recruiting takes a new direction, gets fixed. There is no indication that has happened. It may be fixed and we just don't know yet. The offense is being fixed and now the pitching staff needs fixing.
If JT is still recruiting pitchers like the ones we've signed lately, then it is more of the same. Robe and Freeman are good pitching coaches, but they are not magicians. Since Robe and Freeman are good at what they do, it's not a coaching issue, but a talent issue. If you listen to Robe post game it's always the same, can't pitch in their lanes, coach speak for lack of command, talent.
It's like any other multi-system operation. You need each system to function, or the whole thing just sputters, like we doing now.
Deggs came in early 2012 and fixed the offense, recruited some horses and we were off to the races. Is recruiting fixed yet? I don't know. I'm just trying to be realistic. I hope it's fixed, but who knows.
