edit: when does Georgia Southern become bowl eligible, just out of curiosity?
They predict Arkansas State & San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl.........They can look for attendance to drop under 20,000 again.

Geeze the discussion should about making sure you drag everyone possible to whatever bowl game we go to, instead of "I ain't going here" or "I ain't going there."
that's not how the big timers do it.

Amen my brother. I'm going wherever and whomever we play. Just to be safe, I've had NOLA hotel reservations for weeks. We need to act big time and cut with the excuses.

But there are also many factors like work, expense, and weather that preclude many fans from being able to attend certain Bowls. These things should be considered if there is a choice to be made. I'm happy that we will play in any bowl and even happier if it is one that I can attend.
Re: Latest Bowl Projections From CBS Sports
I have reservations in Shreveport and NOLA.
None in Mobile....only two hours from my house on Northshore...

ESPN now has two new projections for the New Orleans Bowl
Mark Schlabach has us projected vs a current 5-5 Cal-Berkeley Team.
Brett McMurphy has us projected vs a current 5-6 Akron Team.
Cal has to finish with both Stanford and BYU. So it is possible that they are not bowl eligible at the end of the season, meanwhile Akron finishes with a horrendous Kent State team that is 1-9 and whose lone victory was vs Army.
Re: Latest Bowl Projections From CBS Sports
Playing Akron would suck bad, especially since we have them at home next year.

Not sure how they figure a PAC12 school would be streamlined to NOLA Bowl, but if that works out to be the opponent, we should embrace that opportunity. While Cal may be a floundering P5 school, they are a P5 nonetheless, in the 2nd strongest football conference. We're still searching for that P5 win in the HUD era.

Not enough MWC teams eligible to fulfill their obligation to the NOB this year?

MWC has 6 tie ins. (Nola, NM, LV, Idaho, Poinsettia, Hawaii).
Currently 5 eligible (Nevada, Colo St, Boise St, Utah St, Air Force)
SDSU has to win 1 game out of 2 and should. Both ESPN guys have them getting in. Fresno and Wyoming both have to win their last 2 and aren't projected in.
That's 6 teams eligible.
Currently both ESPN guys have Boise St getting the Access bowl and going to Fiesta Bowl and no other MWC teams getting bowl eligible, so that's 5 for the 6 tie ins and 1 team for the access game. So even though they have 6 teams for 6 tie ins, they'd be short.

i think if that were to happen then you could see CUSA possibly try to get UAB into the NO Bowl
Re: Latest Bowl Projections From CBS Sports
Any chance the New Orleans Bowl calls us and we answer.. HMMM Any idea who might be matched up with?

Then that would make sense for them to pass up the NOB. From a financial as well as a fan perspective. Geographically not close to any members of their conference and payout being the lowest of the 6.
Hopefully we don't get a CUSA team here and someone from a P5 makes an appearance.

Yeah, right now CUSA has 4 eligible for 5 spots.
MT needs to beat FAU to make 5.
UAB plays Marshall and Southern Miss needing to win 1 to be eligible and that would make 6 for 5 spots.
WKU needs 1 win and have UTSA at home to get it. Then they have Marshall. So that is still likely 7 for 5.
So CUSA will have surplus and will probably push to get one in place of the MWC if it happens that Boise gets the access game. Hopefully the P5 will have a few to send this way.
Re: Latest Bowl Projections From CBS Sports
How many mid-majors have finished with 8+ regular season wins and a bowl win in 4 straight years? I don't think it's ever been done. I'd like that little recruiting tool.

The chitty thing for me, is I have inventory on December 20th. So no matter what bowl we go to on December 20th I am a no go and if it is the NO Bowl, then I won't even be able to watch, due to inventory.

I am 100% on board with you. BUT we do have to face the facts. As much as 40% of the fans at NOBowl are fair weather fans and are just in New Orleans for the party. They will not travel to any other bowl.
With that said, I will see you in whatever city we are sent.

Actually...that's exactly how the big timers do. Bowl attendance for big teams is god awful considering the size of their fanbases.
