I barely want to watch on the patio anymore. College football was fun while it lasted, I guess.

I’m not a very frugal person when it comes to spending money on Cajuns sports. I renewed my tickets on Sunday and was very reluctant to do it. I love traveling to the away games but it’s more about the company I am traveling with and the fans I’ve met over the years from opposing teams fan bases. It’s the same with actually being at Cajun field. It’s more about the company and less about what is going on with the actual games. Maybe it’s cause I’m getting older and I’m not a kid that looks up to these college players. Maybe it’s what is going on with college football these days. It just isn’t fun anymore. And if these kids see that fans don’t want to be at Cajun field on Saturdays then I really can’t blame them for going to a place where people actually care. Playing in front of 80-100k rabid fans beats playing in front of 7-15k every time. I think we missed the boat when we didn’t capture those younger fans during huds first few years. It’s a shame really.
The Ragin Cajuns are looking to make a splash in year 2 of head coach Michael Desormeaux. Well, they may be losing one of their best defensive backs in Trey Amos as he enters the transfer portal. Continue reading…
I honestly feel as though there will be an over correction eventually. The system of offering 17 and 18 year old kids the kind of money being thrown around cannot sustain itself in the long run, with the exception of maybe a few programs.
Or at least that’s what I tell myself to sleep better at night.
With players getting paid, I’m almost to the point that I’m only willing to pay for tickets, and the minimum to RCAF to get parking passes I want.
Want to be treated as professionals? Then be like professional organizations & don’t ask for me donations.
SOMETHINGS gonna change. At what point are the donors shelling out millions of dollars to players now, with no money left to give to the schools they play for. At some point we have to reach stasis. Where and when that point is reached remains to be seen. Innovative coaches and schools will find a way to thrive/survive until then.
Ive been calling kids who didn't stay "recROUXted" Burnt ROUX for many years...
.. I just never expected the fire of a disgruntled athlete, a California congress, a judge who didn't understand the value of scholarships and amateurism, and then the deep pockets of the impetuous to just come in and torch the ROUX process.
Not gonna be too disappointed to see a kid go out and get himself $150K-$200K. The more disappointing thing to me is the obsession with power ingrained in our society and the reactions to not having it. The two most prevalent reactions seem to be to 1. try to align with it 2. give up.
