NOTHING from this season indicates that the Cajuns will suddenly get hot from 3 point land.
He didn't necessarily predict they would get "hot". His point was valid as he mentioned that they needed to continue shooting the 3 ball. Shooting well from the perimeter opens up the inside and stretches a defense. All he said was that he believed they had shooters that can make the shots but they have to start making them and I agree. Shepherd, Register, Wronkowski and even Jay Wright can hit the three ball.
Schultz lost me when he suggested Register attacking the zone at the high post and shooting bank shots from mid range. I don't have a problem shooting the 3 ball as we have to shoot it in order to open up the defense and we are also a decent offensive rebounding club so if you are hitting the glass, I don't mind it as long as it is a good shot. I don't really care where the shot comes from if it is a good shot. What I've had a problem with is that getting good shots usually comes from ball and player movement to briefly shift defenses and create seams which we don't seem to do very well.

Many of the best teams in the country take them. However, to win in today's game, you have to be able to hit the 3 at least a little bit.

At least read the ragincajuns.com story before preparing your remarks. Injury report was in there. Speculating on Jay's situation without knowing the whole story was unfair to Jay.
A mid range shot is not always an on the move shot but I understand what you are talking about. The thing is, being on the move is not always bad as pulling up for a jumper allows you to get into a rhythm for the shot. While I did not play on the collegiate level, I always enjoyed shooting off the dribble and pulling up for a jump shot as I felt more in rhythm with the shot and could get more lift on my shot.

One thing I didn't hear being talked about was defense. We obviously don't play defense. We may score a lot of points, but we give up even more. It does us no good to score 200 points if we give up 201.

I think defense has been good enough to win, at least lately. Our offense is the elephant in the room and I'm not talking only about perimeter shooting. People are putting too much emphasis on the bad 3 point shooting but there have been a couple of games recently where our 3pt percentage was better than our overall FG percentage and that's terrible. In the Arlington game, we had 19 offensive rebounds but only 7 second chance points. That's a lot of misses close to the basket. You won't win many games shooting 29% from the field.

I always get the feel that we're playing a "street ball" offense. Watch other teams. They're running plays. Setting off ball screens. Getting men into good position. We just pass the ball around the top of the key most of the time.

schultz was right in the fact that our offense works as in we get open looks, we just havent been able to knock them down consistently. for the most part, the 3's that we are missing are good looks that arent contested.
