Re: Louisiana Lafayette - Cox Communications
FYI, they call you U.L.L and LA-Lafayette because they are all sent the same thing from the state...no matter what you decide you want to be called, when they see this it tells them all they need to know http://www.ulsystem.net/assets/docs/...e_policies.pdf
*NOTE this rules out Louisiana and/or UL because it is a reference as a flagship* Any designation of or reference to a member institution as
“flagship,” “lead,” “main,” or by other similar descriptors is prohibited...and check out III C where it says UL is prohibited in athletics as well, this is why we use ULM because we choose not to upset the people who fund our athletic program (as it does you guys)
Re: Louisiana Lafayette - Cox Communications
Well if you read it says your name must ALWAYS contain @geographic location...and your abbreviation must ALWAYS contain the letter of your geographic location. As far as the other post....
ULM has decided that we don't want to be called ULM so we have decided we want to be called the University of Tulane of Louisiana similar to Tulane Universivty. That is pretty much what you guys try to do. If you want go ahead and change your name to Nebraska University of Louisiana or State of Louisiana University....just because you think it doesn't mean its what people believe you to be.

You are a fricking idiot.
Re: Louisiana Lafayette - Cox Communications
The name change will be a on going debate for us because, if you remember, our former board, the Board of College Trustees, Now the Louisiana System, gave us the right to change our name in 1984, only to have the politics backed by mickey neese and lsuambr have it reversed. you see P***S envy in La. runs rampade. NO one objected when lsuno changed to UNO, or lolly poly changed their name to LA. Tech. their's one for you to use against Tech.
SO, for some of us, the name is a sore subject, other more grave than myself. I call it what I want because if the politicans back by lsuambr had not interferred in OUR business, we would have the name of University of Louisiana under our belt for 25 years.
No offense to ULM or University of Louisiana at Monroe. I am glad it was your school and not SLU in Hammond that joined us.
Our two schools will always be looked upon differently because we defied the Evil Empire.
I attended ULM for one semester before going into service and then returning to UL and graduating. ULM is a good school with lots of pride. The Name Change was good for both Universities, so, I respect both schools academically but sure do like whipping your a***s in sports. LOL.
WRECK TECH.

Come back when all the system schools comply with
Quote:
III. University and System Name Guidelines
E. All institutions, whether or not their names are changed to the University of Louisiana designation, must use the wording “A Member of the University of Louisiana System” prominently on all stationery as well as on title pages of university/college catalogs, magazines, newspapers, and journals.
It's silly really for a couple of reasons, first by generic use (in III F. of the edict discripion) of the terms "System office and the Board" to describe separate entities it shows normalized names always trump.
Second if this were really an issue every school in the UL system would be out of whack on 90% of their athletic name usage. http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/lss.asp?doc=80675

If you think using''Louisiana'' is legal, you my friend are wrong. Contact the state and find out. I was curious about the law so I contacted them to get it. I told them they need to enforce the law or do away with it and grant you guys or NWST flagship status...NSU is the oldest and y'all are the biggest. In the email I received...''no single institution has the legal right to use Louisiana, University of Louisiana, UL or U of L for any reason''...They do not have the time to waste on these type of things is what they said. But I was welcome to go investigate myself and send them pictures of violations, and that would get the ball rolling. If I had no life man could I have fun with that. Dear U.L.L. you have 30 days to comply or we will completely cut the funding to your athletic dept. Entering off Johnston University of Louisiana, pics of scoreboard at football games, football field, varius websites including scout using Louisiana, that is a form of slander, signs with Lafayette less than 80 percent come to mind. You know really... you guys are fun on this topic, its something fun to do at work. You need 1 thread per week, it is pretty entertaining even though it is touchy with y'all! AND YES YOU ARE CORRECT you guys do have lots of _____ envy for the schools in this state that everyone outside of a ten mile radius of lafayette root for.
