Re: Summer Bourbon/Scotch/whiskey thread
Whistlepig, Willets are my top list Ryes, Bulleit rye if you are on a budget. Prefer the spice of rye to the sweet of bourbon. Jefferson's 10 year rye is the best of both worlds, but they are out, I bootlegged a case back from up north, down to 3 bottles. I have a Jefferson's 21, but I'm too scared to uncork it at almost 3 bills.

I am in for that, I really like your place and need to get some ideas as I remodel. Also it could be BYOB and sample each different bourbons without having to buy it first. I am willing to share.

Re: Summer Bourbon/Scotch/whiskey thread
I opened a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean last night and I must say it is by far the smoothest bourbon that I have ever had.

Is that the one that is aged on a ship? Kelt Tour du Monde VSOP Cognac is aged the same way. They send it on an "Ocean Maturation Voyage" around the world to age in oak casks. Very nice and smooth.

Yes it is, I was surprised how smooth it was. "Jefferson’s Ocean: Aged at Sea - Inspired by the original Jefferson’s Ocean, which was new-filled bourbon barrels, the Jefferson’s Ocean: Aged at Sea takes older bourbon barrels and brings it around the world. Stopping in 5 different continents and crossing the equator 4 times, this bourbon truly is a world beater."
I have had a sample of the Jefferson Groth Cask, good but not as smooth, much bolder taste.
From a review "In a twin wood aging process, Jefferson’s Reserve bourbon was aged in new charred white oak barrels and was, then, further matured for nine months in recently dumped French Oak casks kept in “hot boxes” that once held Cabernet Sauvignon from Groth. This new finish added a lush fruit flavor, soft, supple texture and sweet vanilla character to the bourbon. Flavors of black cherry and blackberry blend with the spice of the rye and the toffee notes of the bourbon."
Re: Summer Bourbon/Scotch/whiskey thread
There's a new distillery in Thibodeaux called Donner-Peltier distillers. They have the first whiskey legally distilled in Louisiana since prohibition. Its called LA1...pretty smooth to drink
Re: Summer Bourbon/Scotch/whiskey thread
I had way too many Knob Creeks last night!

Plenty of reasons to raise a glass to our programs. Fund raiser being hired, our players staying off the felony blotters, and stability on the coaching front. And another great year!
We aren't sweating losing players to self inflicted decisions. We aren't like the brokebacks, who this summer are so broke nobody is cutting their fields. Other supposed rival's boards are ghost towns. Ours seems to be running on anticipation of the seasons to come.
Drink up my brothers!

My favorite is The Macallan 12. When the time is special, reach for The Macallan 30 Sherry Oak.
