For the moment, I think that replacing Robinson with a speed guy...capable of blowing the top off a defense is our answer. My first choice of players would be: Montrel Carter or Gabe Fuselier, with a random showing of Elijah McGuire. A viable deep threat should keep a defense from loading the box. Force the defense to defend the entire field and never allow a defense to crowd the line of scrimmage, stacking eight or 10 men in the box. My second scheme or option to replace Robinson would be to clone him, using: Jalen Nixon, Nick Byrne or Matthew Barnes to create size mismatches. A dominant offensive player can break the will of an opposing defensive player, leading to the offense taking control of the game...e.g., when Robinson is on the field. (Random thoughts)
Delvin Scott would be the deep threat
CC...I considered Delvin, but hasn't he struggled with this season?
He has only had a couple targets, throws haven't been great and he should have defended the pass that was picked off...but when he has been targeted he has had a couple steps on his defenderQuote:

Question. If the standard is 30% of games played and JR has played 4, that is 33%. So do you think he still gets the hardship?

The difference is Fusilier is more polished as a WR, Scott was more of a track athlete coming out of HS. Scott has allowed DB's to push him off his routes too much, still not ready to play consistently right now.Quote:

As T mentioned, you can see just by watching the games that Gabe is more of a polished football player right now. Scott will hopefully get there in time. As it stands, I dont think you're going to move Gabe outside because he's pretty much exactly what you want out of a slot receiver. Great on the bubble and tunnel and a solid blocker, especially for his size.
Bottom line, no one player replaces Robinson. Johnson will play more but so will Fuselier, Scott, etc. Riles is coming on as one of best weapons so I'm sure we'll see a variety of looks.

1. You have five years to play four. Robinson is in his fourth season of playing.
2. A medical redshirt, according to the rules, isn't in the cards for Robinson because he has participated in 33% of his team's games. (4 out of 12).
3. Bowl games do not count in the percentage...but even if they did, Robinson would have played in just over 30% of his team's games.
So Robinson's only hope is for an exception to be made. Now, that is handled on a case by case basis and there is no clear statement as to what qualifies as an exception. Personally I don't see anything in this case that I know of that would warrant an exception. The fact he was injured early in two of the games is irrelevant, because the NCAA clearly states once you play a single down, it counts as a game played.
As soon as HUD said "I'm confident he'll get the hardship" that spoke loudly that he wouldn't. Because that's what coaches say. I remember Jessie Evans talking about Blane Harmon in that regard. Kept saying it all the way up to the final decision.
I'm hoping against hope for an exception but I don't see one coming. We'll find out once the paperwork is filed.
