Re: College Baseball Polls 3/24
In what universe do you live? One thing is not dependent of another, and just because you can pose the question does not make it so. It is not like Baseball America said you can have this, but not that, or that and not this.

Re: College Baseball Polls 3/24
Here's my question: Is that UL's first #1 ranking in any sport?
We won championships in trampoline, weight lifting, boxing, but I don't think there was ever an actual poll for those sports.
Jay? Anyone?

Re: College Baseball Polls 3/24
This is a great day for UL, UL Athletics and UL Baseball! Is this first time in school history we're ranked #1 in any poll in any sport? I don't want to take away from the excitement and pride of today but I feel differently on name issue. Just because we're ranked doesn't make our mis-branding OK. If anything this is when we need it the most! I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this but "Never be satisfied".

This is nice and very swag affirming, but we all just want to be in the top 8 after Supers are finished.

Never before heretofore, on three-two-four of twenty-one-four, a forceful foray into unforgettable rankings.
No not number four, #1

That's a sure bet because they'll likely drag their ___ on the hire and screw something else up before then. They make it so easy.
But, if you prefer, we can always act like lemmings and let the admin slide back to mediocrity at best or even worse. I know some of you guys long for the Authement and SLC days.

Re: College Baseball Polls 3/24
What a great day for UL athletics! Actually, what a great year. I can never remember a better time. Is everything perfect? No, and it never will be. Some days you just have to be happy and forget about the negative. Today is one of those days.

With everything happening in athletics right now, I don't think you can just say "hey, let's hire someone."
The job stayed open after Daryl Cetnar left for about two months before someone was hired.
I'm pretty sure, in this case, Matt Sullivan will be elevated and then it will be his job to hire an assistant.
But, the position has to be advertised, etc., etc.,
This job hasn't been vacant very long. State law, in this case, makes it difficult to just snap your fingers and make a hire.
But don't let that stop you from a good rant LOL

Yeah, we need to take time to do logos and stuff. Jeez.
I'm supposed to know the makeup of our staff and all of their health issues? Jeez is right. The expectation of performing like a Division 1 program should be a given. They are using a logo we haven't used in about 5 years. Seems like sometime during that period, things could have been updated with all of the media. Even CBS didn't use our current logo; they used the one with the Louisiana's which we got rid of last year. CBS called us Louisiana on the bracket show then reverted to Louisiana Lafayette immediately thereafter and throughout the telecast. Don't know why that happened, but we are on a national stage in basketball and baseball and are now the #1 baseball team in the country. Providing correct logos and pushing our branded athletic name seem like minimal things to do in that high exposure position if you want preferred brand recognition and they do not have to be mutually exclusive.

:D. You know me too well.
Seriously, I understand the state requirements on posting. The question is, has that posting been made so that the clock is ticking? The sooner that position gets filled by Sullivan the sooner the posting to fill the assistant's spot will get posted and (hopefully) filled to give those overworked guys some help.

Re: College Baseball Polls 3/24
Not sure why some people on this board get so upset with the ones that would like to see the correct branding of our university out there. The time to act is now why the fire is burning. Once the embers have been washed away, who the heck will care?
I don't agree with the ones that say let it rest and winning will take care of it all. Winning will help, but winning and pushing the name "Louisiana, UL, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, etc...." down their throats will get the job done much quicker. If we go back to 3 win seasons in football, 12 win seasons in baseball, basketball and softball, who will care then or even notice what we call ourselves?
GEAUX Louisiana, GEAUX UL, GEAUX Ragin Cajuns!!!

Oh, I am extremely happy with the rankings, but try and get the branding done when we are ranked 125. It will be that much more difficult.

If I am not mistaken, I think Softball had a #1 ranking in one publication in the early 90's. I don't recall which year it was, possibly Kyla Hall days??

I'm on board with it. I just don't need to hear about it on every thread, every day.
