Re: Buccees definitely coming - golden opportunity
The approval from BOZA on Thursday evening probably sealed the deal for this site. It is perfect, plenty of water and sanitary sewer on site, electricity too. not in a regulated floodway although in a regulated flood zone (no big deal). Being at an existing interchange means little or no off-site traffic improvements. I would suspect it's a done deal.
Re: Buccees definitely coming - golden opportunity
Bucc-ees pays $20 per hour for employees that are assigned to clean the restrooms! The Managers make $150,000 - $225,000 per year! Obviously all other employees are paid an above average wage for that type of work. Not to mention the matching funds in their 401K program, paid vacation, etc. They have a tremendous business model and Lafayette would be fortunate to get a store located within the parish.
Re: Buccees definitely coming - golden opportunity
Great Lafayette will get a BucKees but ain’t where I stop ever again. Too many damn people and traffic. lol.

Was a topic at supper tonight. Politicians that pushed for any development at this interchange need to get the word out in the community don’t blow this like Walmart. Walmart closing was straight up on their constituents. With Buc-ee’s you’ve hit a mother lode.
Yes, we’d drive across town for a ‘tammage.

those are the best
always get a couple 3 bags every time we stop
wife loves the large and immaculately clean restrooms
50 gas filling stations so always one available and price of gas is always competitive
so much stuff to browse and great sandwiches
if you need to find a nice Nick Nack for a friend or helper or family back home you can usually find something for anyone
just a great concept to utilize when you are traveling
I would never go to one in Lafayette because it is just not designed for any need which I would have that close to home
it’s just not what it is for
Re: Buccees definitely coming - golden opportunity
Never went to one. I would go out of curiosity or if I needed gas. It will help the shopping center across the interstate too. If they stop at Bucees and see a target, jc Penney and academy across the way they may go there too.

Walmart makes their own decisions. They base their decisions on demographics and local sales data like all major retail groups. Blaming others is useless.

“Inventory shrinkage” wasn’t a secret with the thruway Walmart. Part of the “analytics” sited for the closing.

The home Depot on the thruway has just about every tool over 20 bucks locked up or behind a cage. .
Sam's has just installed an overhead scanner at the exit door
It's kind of depressing
