Seems like I read and heard that the illegal pitch that AB :h: :h: :h: was accused of was not keeping the foot in contact with the rubber until the ball is released. Well I must have gotten it wrong, because the Georgia pitcher, UCLA pitcher, Florida pitcher, TAMU pitcher, Standford pitcher, and the Cal pitcher never kept their foot on the rubber. I caught some of the other regional games on TV and noticed the same thing. It looks like you could make that call on every single pitch. I hope the Lotiefs can get film on every one of the oppositions pitchers to point that out in any pre-series meetings they have with the officials. Because you know the oppossing coaches are going to make a point of Ashley being "guilty" of it in the regionals and super-regional.

The Georgia Pitcher was almost out of the pitching circle on the release. Interesting fact is her little sister has signed at the flagship and I would suspect they have a similar style. So I guess YG won 't want it emphasized that off the rubber thing.

It's only an illegal pitch if you're pitching for a team that the NCAA heirarchy doesn't want to see among its ELITE 8 in OK City.

Taryn Mohwatt was called for 2 illigal pitches yesterday as well and she is the 2 time defending NC pitcher. An illigal pitch occurs when the foot loses contact with the rubber or the ground. So no crow hopping which AB has a problem with sometimes. It is very very rare that you see that called during international play. You can also get called for an illigal pitch if you stray outside of the 24" zone which is parallel lines running from both sides of the rubber directly towards home plate. If both of your feet are planted outside of the width of the rubber then it is an illegal pitch. That is what Mohwatt got called on.

They called it only once against Georgia last night early in the game against the Cheating ULCA ( I will never forget the Australian pitcher who registered in January, never went to a class, pitched after the academic semester was over, and flew home for good after taking the title). If my interpretation is correct the Georgia pitcher was as flagrant as anybody. No doubt she was never near the rubber on her release. Thank goodness for my recorder super slow motion. ;) ;)

i'm watching the Michigan - VT and the Michigan pitcher pretty much jumps off the rubber before she releases the ball.posted via mobile device

It is very rare because if the pitcher returns her foot to the rubber after the crow hop, its usually not called. I'm watching softball today and Tincher like all other power pitchers does not maintain contact with the rubber at all times.

I noticed that too.

Also VT is beating Michigan 4-0 after 4 innings.

I am watching the VT, Michigan game. Thanks to the stop motion tevo, the VT pitcher's arm was directly over her head and the foot was off the pad and no illegal patch was called. top of the 6th, vt 6, Mich 1

A friend of mine at the first uneaux game yesterday told me AB has a habit of "hopping" out of her follow-through, which takes her back foot completely off the mound, which is illegal. Hopefully, with more time, she's going to force herself into a habit of dragging that foot and keeping in contact with the mound. Not to worry, she AND Donna are going to be top 10 pitchers for their entire careers!!! .~..~..~.
