Re: In Need of An Explanation
Last 2 home games of an 11-3 team in 19’ averaged about 14k.
Attendance is an issue.
Winning helps, but it’s not the solution. I think this win will help for homecoming. Winning is obviously not enough in college football these days. Good teams still struggle to fill the stadiums.
Acadiana has shown up and shown out before. They can do it again.
Can I see a banner? 🙃

Is it the University’s policies, or a general lack of excitement? I’m so lost.
It’s because it was so bad in the JB years people started coming when Ricky and HUd won. Unfortunately Billy made winning boring here so people don’t come for winners anymore.

RR hit on two (?) 7.50 tickets thru Ticketmaster we’re 66 if I understood correctly. That’s a BIG killer.

Fair enough. But think about it: everyone said, "Just win, that will cure everything."
And then, the more we won, the smaller our crowds got. This problem was going on when Napier was giving us the best teams we've had since WWII. For two years, we were the only ranked team in the state.
And yet, our crowds were smaller than they used to be.
I don't have a better explanation, and so far I haven't read or heard one. From what I've observed, at times the PA announcer and the unpleasantly loud music block the crowd from cheering. They interfere with crowd enthusiasm. People come to have a good time, and for our culture some of that is screaming our lungs out.
If you have a different explanation please weigh in, I'm sincerely interested in understanding this.
Because as I said, for decades everyone has said that all we have to do is win. The evidence is pretty clear that that wasn't right.

Fun, I love you man, but it's not 1950 anymore. A "loud PA" isn't the reason our attendance is down. Ideas have been given ad nauseum here, but loud PA isn't one of them.
Re: In Need of An Explanation
IMO we had the largest sustain crowds when our coach was out pumping up the fan base. But we don't do that anymore heck I haven't seen our coach out side of on tv or the Cajun Walk.

That's not fair, James. That's not what I said.
I said the PA is blocking the crowd. As I noted, I have seen it happen: I have seen times the crowd was starting to yell, and the PA system drowned them out.
That is a observed fact. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that the experience discouraged them from getting excited the next time.
Some people here are just blaming the no-shows. But I have yet to see anyone, either in the administration or here, who has asked what the real problem is, and then asked about how we fix it.
It is certainly your right to disagree. But I think if you are going to be fair, you should come up with another explanation first.

I saw Billy walking in front of Albertsons along Johnston November 2021. Wearing black.
Des is super animated in the locker room videos. People can get behind that guy. Just bring that fire to the public.

Des repeats the same stuff as Napier. He isn't original at all. YOU GOT ME, LOL....

I would like to see 40K in our stadium, too. But here's a tough question: If we can build a great university without football, then why do we continue to insist that people focus on football?
Where should we look for our concepts of success:
Harvard, or LSU?
(And actually, I'm not much of a Harvard fan, long explanation. But they are sort of the 'Coke' of soft drinks, the 'Kleenex' of facial tissues... )
Tired of the admin not doing anything and some how that’s going to change attendance.
Personally feed up with it . They are not changing ! Admin is lazy and don’t care ! So I don’t either.
The Black out game showed how much you cared and really brought that big crowd in.
The problems are much bigger then that ! Whatever continue to blame fans.
