In Need of An Explanation

Perhaps I’m new to the lack of attendance at Cajun Field (I remember the 2011-2019 eras fondly), but why in the hell are we only filling 3,500 seats at a nationally televised game?

Is it the University’s policies, or a general lack of excitement? I’m so lost.

The crowd is 15K not 3,500.

Acadiana doesn't care, that is why the attendance is always low.

Acadiana largely doesn’t support it’s University and the University doesn’t do itself any favors to change that. Two consecutive top 25 seasons and attendance never increased other than the SBC championship game.

To be fair attendance is down across the nation, just more pronounced here; disheartening considering how exciting the Sun Belt has become, but the average person just wants to party and it’s not exactly a big party or great atmosphere at Cajun field these days.

Still horse____ that we only had 15k on hand . Important game. Perfect weather etc....

Basically all of the above. The admin could do a much better job. But I also whole heartedly believe that the Cajuns could be the #1 team in the country and Lafayette still wouldn’t show up.

Still have the record for conference championship games. 2021. By a lot.

They will show up. Just have to push the right buttons.

The obvious thing nationwide was the government Covid shutdown and mask deal. People found other things to amuse themselves with, such as watching sports via streaming.

The other part is the inability to grow the fanbase during that time. It’s often brought up about the lack of RCAF growth. That’s the same supporters that are getting older and aging out. It’s up to MH and RCAF to replace them/us.

RCAF growth isn’t just a UL thing. Other universities are struggling too with the advent of NIL and the above mentioned issues.

I hear people complain about attendance every week but give me one good reason people should go and spend their money on UL football. I go to every game and the fan experience is terrible. I went to the Southern Miss game on Thursday night and the fan experience was awesome made me wish we played there this year. I'm talking about the in game experience. There no fan interaction except for first downs. People complain about the music, our band still playing songs they played in the 70's. Other than the kids on the hill what does the university do to have fans interact and want to go to Cajun Field.
