I don’t care about attendance, I care about the competitiveness of the UL team. That’s what we should be focused on. If we can’t win,we are not going to attract anyone

Don’t think that is what he was implying. It’s painfully obvious that Des isn’t ready, but he COULD have been ready later on in his career after getting more experience other places.

How many college head coaches have you seen bomb at their first head coaching opportunity, get fired, and make their way all the way back to another head coaching opportunity? Most of the time, they end up as a washed up high school coach somewhere.

Maggard knew how to hire a successful coach, and ignored his past accomplishments by thinking too much. He and Savoie screwed up. He still won’t know until over a year fom now. Sad.

You really believe that Maggard -- the guy that was, to that point, ultra-aggressive when it came to football spending-- suddenly decided on his own to hire the safest possible person for the job that only months earlier he was prepared to pay someone $2m+ for ?
