Re: Steve Hale to address Cajun Nation on 103.7FM today at 6 pm
After tonight, I think the group that strongly supports Hale has become substantially more widespread and diverse than any of the 123 guests currently viewing this thread thought possible. There are some people out there who aren't going to get much sleep tonight.

I can't believe this post has not gotten more discussion. I didn't see it until a few moments ago when quoted by Duggie. If accurate, in my humble opinion therein lies the answers everyone has been seeking.

Yep. Even for us newbies, K, it is obvious it is THAT important.

I'm sure Coach Hud will be the ultimate professional and say nothing but positive things about the hire while he is here. The question is how much longer will he be here after this latest missed opportunity by the admin?
Also, I have heard that HUD and Hale have the same agent. Is that true?

No doubt Hale is a strong personality. Even one if the articles we linked early on had comments from people he worked with who acknowledged that. But those same people also said his success is hard to argue with. Hell, Hud has a strong personality. He seems to be pretty much a my way or the highway guy yet he us successful and I doubt anyone here wishes we would have hired someone else instead.

You mean the Mayor that was not re-elected? He never gave them a list of references, so that person is another hit man. That list included a number of impressive names including a conference commissioner, program director at ESPN, Nic Saban and others. I'm going to assume you haven't listened to the interview yet.
#ICYMI the full interview with Steve Hale. Give it a listen. http://bit.ly/1gBroAH

Expect a diversionary move shortly to deflect attention away from Coach Hale.
You're not a newbie. You've been with RP since 2006. Post more.

I'm in no way saying anything negative about Mr. Hale because I just don't know enough about him. Everything I've see to this point has been positive. But as the locals here say, "something doesn't square", and I couldn't put my finger on it.
If in fact Mr. Hale listed references who gave him anything other than glowing recommendations, it could be a sign of serious misjudgment on his part. Firstly, one should never list references without first contacting those references to get their permission. One would assume that such contact would lead to either a, "sure Steve, list me as a reference and I'll be glad to go to bat for you", or a polite, "thanks Steve but I generally do not agree to be listed as a reference for XYZ reason".
I've done a lot of interviews and made a lot of reference phone calls and I can tell you from firsthand experience that a negative comment by a listed reference usually struck like a thunderbolt.
