Look, I don't know who is going to get the gig. But Jay Johnson checks every one of Dr. Maggard's boxes. I know that from the interaction he had when he was here, not because anyone has told me anything.

Any idea if he would be interested. Not asking you to break confidences, if any, just if you know something you can share.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
People forget how talented our WR/TE group was in Huds first few years. We took an offensive nose dive due to talent... not some OC play calls. As my brother says, non of our current WR/TE would start for Huds first team, and I agree.
Fast forward to today. Most of our talent is on the right side of the OL and RB. It also helps that our WR are good blockers. That is why we are a running team. No coach is going to make us a pass first team next year. We don't have the talent at WR to make tough/contested catches. The new coach will have to embrace a run first attack for the foreseeable future.

I don't think that's where Hud's brain was located if you know what I mean

I have no idea. Don't know if he has applied and I haven't spoken with anyone who has spoken with him.

I'm upset we haven't had one flight watch, Maggard sighting, Not even a he said she said. I'm wondering if we are just going to wait until after the championship game to prevent any other team distractions. Maybe they will announce it at half time.

Re: Louisiana Football Coaching Search
I definitely miss the Sumlin / Flight watch during the last coaching search. Those were some fun days on RP!

I think this is a bit of a misconception that Johnson's offense was more pass focus than run. In 2011 the offense was built more around the talent, or lack of depth at certain positions. Both primary backs were freshmen, Alonzo Harris and Quen Griffin. That year the offense averaged only 125 yards on the ground.
In 2012, the offense continued to evolve with the QBs running more along with Harris and Effrem Reed. The running game averaged over 196 yards a game.
In 2013, the offense continued to be more balanced. Averaging 212 yards passing and 205 yards rushing per game.
If you look at Jay Johnson's offense in Minnesota, it was built around a power running game.
If you look at Michigan State's offense this season, Walker is a Heisman Trophy candidate averaging over 150 Yards per game. They use a lot of play action in the passing game.
Johnson clearly believes in a more balanced offense, but adjust to his talent.
Again, this is not an endorsement of Jay Johnson, just putting factual information on the table to discuss.

You’d be wrong on the WR/TE front.

I will take Surgent, Lawson, Butler, Peoples and green for Huds first team. You can pick an all star group with everyone since. I like chances.

….Who made the great one handed catch that was featured as play of the day on espn? Who ran the punt or KO return in the bowl……btw Dontae Fleming reminds me so much of him !
