Re: Live Game Talk: Louisiana vs. Tulane
For me these teams are very close to each other. There were three main differences I saw.
1. The pick 6 was huge. Someone was wrong on this play, either Ben or Carter, because they were on very different pages.
2. Multiple times we got pressure on Mensah and could not complete the sack.
3. Defense could not get off the field on 3rd downs. Now Tulane did a good job of keeping the 3rd downs to manageable distances, but they always seemed to get a first down by just a yard or two.

Whenever predicting Cajuns scores. If you think we’ll win, predict that we’ll win by double digits. We cannot win one score games.
Looking at the stats, I think it’s a little fools gold. Tulane helped us out so many times with PIs and other penalties. We were garbage on 3rd down.

He was high on a lot of his throws warning up pre game. But, IMO, Ben is our best option to win games.

I tried to warn the coaches last week.
Its so predictable its almost etched in stone.
Quarterbacks need to stay out of the arm strength weight room on bye weeks.
Happens every time.

Point 3 was main factor in game. By a huge margin in fact. All other evaluation of game pales in comparison to following sentence. Their OL won against our DL and LB’s the majority of the time. That is a physical issue, not scheme issue. That does not mean it would happen every game but likely most games. Has to be fixed via recruiting (including portal).

I tend to agree, but there a scheme issue I have noticed the first couple of games. The defense tends to shift quite a bit to the strong side and are allowing big plays when teams run back to the weak side. It is basically leaving a CB to make a 1-1 tackle with a RB and it just hasn’t worked so far.

That can also be fixed in the weight room and training table
Re: Live Game Talk: Louisiana vs. Tulane
Watching this team under Des for 3 years, one thing is consistent. We beat teams that are worse than we are most of the time. Think about the wins and where those teams we beat finished at the end of the season. The exception to this may have been TXST last year. They struggle so much to play up and beat a good team. Consistently average. And it hurts to watch with this group. They have some great players.
Re: Live Game Talk: Louisiana vs. Tulane
Hard to win when line of scrimmage gets pushed backwards 5 yards when we are on defense. Add to that arm tackling and/or just running past the qb on a sure sack. Even stacking the box finally after all game I was calling for that didnt work at all. New DC mantra was communication and stop the run. BIG FAIL.
Re: Live Game Talk: Louisiana vs. Tulane
Well at least today was the biggest crowd of the year and will be the biggest of the season.
