Speaking of Zeon, he might end up their starter. The stats this year and their fans seem to suggest that the starter, Smith isn't better than him. They got shut out 34-0 with Zeon playing mop up duty and the coaches running him as a wildcat. Looks like he would be in a better situation here than there.
The two teams were more evenly matched than I expected. Several inexplicable errors we just couldn’t afford against that team. The Des era continues to be littered with close losses and games that got away.
Ben played OK for 3.5 qtrs.he didn't handle blitz nor make the quick reads needed late in 4th.
Plays were definitely there to be made.
For me these teams are very close to each other. There were three main differences I saw.
1. The pick 6 was huge. Someone was wrong on this play, either Ben or Carter, because they were on very different pages.
2. Multiple times we got pressure on Mensah and could not complete the sack.
3. Defense could not get off the field on 3rd downs. Now Tulane did a good job of keeping the 3rd downs to manageable distances, but they always seemed to get a first down by just a yard or two.
Whenever predicting Cajuns scores. If you think we’ll win, predict that we’ll win by double digits. We cannot win one score games.
Looking at the stats, I think it’s a little fools gold. Tulane helped us out so many times with PIs and other penalties. We were garbage on 3rd down.
