The LOCAL hysterical group now is on FB saying they’re working on getting Blackham on the local registry. Local designation is basically a feel good move, but Pandora’s Box has been open. Be careful what you wish for, this is one of the best pieces of real estate UL owns.

Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
Tear that sucker down. It is a piece of poop. You paint it, but it will be a piece of poop that is painted.

Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
I guess the question is how much does blackham bring in to the university/city with the livestock events. If another type of venue would bring more to the table then it should have been done years ago.

Don't try to bring that logical poop in here. I do not want to hear it.

Or have to paint it

Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
I don’t see what the big deal is. At the very least it got everyone talking about Blackham and how it’s an eyesore.

Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
Someone might want to ask the MidWinter Fair Association how they feel about this.

You sure it was 2002? I don’t feel that old. It was well worth the time and effort. I would volunteer every year.

What are you blaming the university for?
An unlicensed guys company that isn’t even registered with the Secretary of State is trying to charge the university “half” of what legit companies would charge by going through proper bids required by law.
How is this any fault of the university?
-
Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
Well, it’s certainly not a wet dream no matter how one looks at it.

Re: Local Company wants to Paint Blackham
Why would we need to spend any money rehabbing Blackham? What do we use that facility for? Why do we need it?
I'm of the mind that the property Blackham sits on is more useful to the university without Blackham on it.

^^^THIS.
At some point in the future the university will build a key piece of infrastructure on this property. What exactly will be, who knows. But it will be one of the most visible structures as the campus expands westward.

Retail space to storage space.... sign of a dead mall.
I am curious to see what will happen with the Bed Bath and Beyond space after they close.

Maybe then he could bid on this type of job like legit companies. I’m sure he’s doing business under his other company but he may want to also check with the Secretary of State because he forgot to do something important. Of course that doesn’t matter either since neither “company” is shown as licensed with the state. Even if he volunteered to do it for free, he can’t.
But why are you mad about it?

That is a great idea and possibly the best use of all of the land around Blackham. What a great entrance to the athletic complex that would make.

Natural progress of development. For a long time 70506 and 70503 were the hot zip codes. I've been pointing out to my wife how businesses have been leaving along Ambassador north of the river and, if fortunate, being replaced by second level businessses. As a homeowner, I'm watching this closely. Crappy stores begets crappy consumers. There are certain stores I've told my wife to stay away from, and some not even to frequent after dark.
Now the hot zip code is 70508. Decade from now, if I were a betting man, as 90/49 south developes, growth will occurr along that corridor. The Ambassador interchange once built is more interstate quality service roads along undeveloped areas and will join two major interchanges.

Not mad about it. Just pointing out the obvious. Never heard of this guy until this started. Turns out "THEPAINTGUYS LLC" is registered with the Secretary of State but still don't see a license with the Board of Contractors.
