I know Dave well enough to say he was trying to lighten the interview up because he knew Murphy was getting frustrated. Murphy knows him well enough by now, this isn't he first interview with Dave Schultz.

Considering Schutz's show is the first local one at 0600 hrs, I enjoy his show more now than when he first came down here. His views offer a different perspective from a "outsider's" view.

Well, I didn't post the interview to debate Dave Schultz's show. But, I do realize a large number of posters on Ragin' Pagin do not listen to that station because it doesn't have local personalities and they have different points of views that they are uncomfortable with.

I'll admit I was reluctant to listen. Mostly because of the seemingly Pro LSU content.
But over time, I've given Dave and a few others a chance. It takes a bit to adjust, but a TRULY objective opinion is always refreshing and necessary in a market like ours. If you want to be "big time", you can't be scared of media pressure.

And is he referring to Lakefront Arena as "home"? Didn't he get the memo from Karl that our fans are a disappointment at Lakefront for the tournament? Murph is hung up pretty tight on 3 point shots... 80 points a game!... Dave laughed a little too hard on how 31% of a massive number of jacked up 3s will help you get to 80. We are 332nd (closer to 30% from 3pt range) in the country in 3pt percentage... but we are attempting no more 3 point shots than most programs.

Coaches will tell you that the mid range shot in college is one of the toughest in the game as you generally get it when you are on the move. Still, I would like to see us take more of those as we would not get so many charges. Coach Murphy made a good point however in that the mid range shot is difficult to obtain at times when the defense is a soft man to man or zone. Turnover often results in those situations. I found the debate interesting. I do note coaches do get defensive when people they do not believe know as much about the game as they do try to give them advice. It is like me taking advice from some actor on how the energy industry works. That being said, I do not know how much basketball knowledge Dave Schultz has. He may have played the game competitively and therefore speaks with credibility. I also listen to them in the morning more frequently these days as they do focus on the Cajuns more than in the past. However you guys should know that last Friday morning he was going on about Jay Wright being in a slump as he only played a few minutes at Troy. I had to call and tell them that Jay suffered an injury which is why he did not play much. He was developing his commentary strictly from the box score. I found that situation indicative of a lack of preparation. He obviously had not listened to the game or read details about the game. If he had, he would have known about the injury. At least read the ragincajuns.com story before preparing your remarks. Injury report was in there. Speculating on Jay's situation without knowing the whole story was unfair to Jay.
