Re: Lotief: Cajuns have much to replace this season
I think you are right. I know Mike is always the kind of guy to keep his cards close to his chest, but he knows deep down inside that of all the strong teams he has fielded over the years, none had the depth and talent that this one does. I think he has had better lineups in the past, better individual pitchers in the past, but never the depth that this squad has with potentially 3-4 solid arms and a lineup without many holes. You never want to predict a championship in a spring sport, because unlike football, rarely does the best team win it all… But this may be the best all around team to ever sport a Lady Cajun uniform, much like the baseball team last year… Unfortunately that's where my bad omens come in… Even though I think the Cajuns were the best team in baseball (IMO only Virginia, Ole Miss, and Oregon State could make a case) last year, they still didn't get er done at the end, and that is my only worry for this years Lady Cajuns.
Re: Lotief: Cajuns have much to replace this season
I've heard Stevie-P say more than once the best Cajun softball team in history didn't make it to the WCWS. Nothing is guaranteed, and Mike has been saying the same thing every year.
Re: Lotief: Cajuns have much to replace this season
Last year in the WCWS, all of the Cajuns bats, with the exception of Elkins, went cold. There were various games during the regular season in which certain girls bats would go cold but there were other girls in the lineup that would pick up the slack. Landry, Vincent, Corbello and Walsh are all streaky hitters whose bats can go cold at anytime. They all need to develop a consistency this year with each at-bat that they have.
Re: Lotief: Cajuns have much to replace this season
The culture is built on a stabil foundation. Lotief will have any girl who plays ready to make the best of the opportunity.
Re: Lotief: Cajuns have much to replace this season
In 1993 the Cajuns went 22-0. How could they go undefeated and not win the national championship?
