It should be awarded to any defensive player who can stop the other team's RB from running right over us, again.
The decals will be awarded for good plays, maybe 1 for like getting a win, maybe they should give them like 10 for each win haha
i'll try to take a picture of the sample helmet and post it if i can
I read about the awards peppers, this is a great idea peppers are supposed to accent. But has there been any discussion on using castles for the defense? The fortified stronghold is as much a part of UL history as the fleur-de-lis. The pepper is Johhny come lately, but the castle and fleur-de-lis have been used in symbols at least as long as the first crest.

Just when the Ragin' Cajuns were in the midst of a horrible season losing the first seven games of the season, including a 45-42 loss to rival UL Monroe, a funny thing happened; the team started winning.
For a program that had a nightmare of a time remembering when it last won four games in a season (it was 1996), it tore off four victories in the final five games finishing with a heart-stopping four-overtime win at MTSU to go into the off-season sky-high.
Now there's hope for even more positive things to happen as the defense looks to be a little bit better with everyone returning to the secondary and QB Jerry Babb leading an experienced offense. So is it time to start printing up New Orleans Bowl tickets? Not quite, but the days of being the Sun Belt doormat might be over.
The Schedule: The Ragin' Cajuns will know right away where they stand in the Sun Belt race getting MTSU at home in late September. Three straight road dates are followed up by an interesting three-game home stretch facing contenders, Arkansas State, North Texas and Troy State. They have to win at least one of those.
Best Offensive Player: Sophomore QB Jerry Babb. He took his lumps as a freshman, but he came out looking fine at the end of the year proving to be the spark for the great late-season run. Now he has to be a more consistent passer and get the offense moving on a more consistent basis.

The rest of the story<!--
Best Defensive Player: Senior SS C.C. Brown. Brown became the do-it-all player for the defense once he got into the lineup early. He wasn't just a top tackler, but he also found ways to make big plays and always be around the ball.
Key player to a successful season: With all four starters being replaced on the line, the Ragin' Cajuns have to generate a pass rush from the ends. Travis Bass isn't bad and Eugene Kwarteng has promise, and they most be consistently in the opponents' backfield.
The season will be a success if ... the Ragin' Cajuns win five games. The overall talent isn't good enough to challenge for the Sun Belt title, but that doesn't mean there can't be a few good performances along the way. The key will be to win the close games, which is something they were able to do at the end of last year.
Key game: Nov. 20 at. UL Monroe. The Indians have been horrible the last two years yet they found ways to beat their rivals. UL Lafayette has to end the season on a high note and reverse the trend.
2003 Fun Stats:
- Third quarter scoring: Opponents 76 - UL Lafayette 27
- Penalties: Opponents 112 for 912 yards - UL Lafayette 83 for 717
- The 57.2% team pass completion percentage set a new record
no i havent heard any discussion on using castles
they're all going to be the peppers
I think the castle theme is a far reach. UL has too many names & logos that confuse as it is. I think either the pepper, fleur de lis, or even the hot wheel needs to be decided on for a few years at least. As an outsider, I like the pepper because it draws more nat'l recognition.
Someone just passed by the UL Bookstore today (where the jersey is for sale) and saw the new uniform.
Helmets: Ragin' Cajuns, but not arched (presumably like Baldwin's)
Jerseys and pants: As depicted, except that LOUISIANA will appear across the chest (plus UL at the base of the V-neck), and the numbers will be the same funky fonts of the past few years.
Anyone in the neighborhood, please go take a look for us and make any corrections if in error.
Let me add to the confusion, if I may.
The helmet "Ragin' Cajuns" logo was arched last year for Bustle. The former coach had the logo un-arched.
What's up with that font, anyway? I've never seen it used anywhere else. Was it created especially for us?
