His experience is perfect for this job, had a letter of recommendation from Terry Don, and with his roots being here, he would have settled in and stayed forever, not jumping at the first P5 opportunity if he's successful here.
I guess we'll see how it all plays out with the guy who is hired. I guess if whomever is hired is lured away to a P5 in a few years, we will be headed in the right direction, but will have to make another great hire. But losing people because of great success here is a good problem to have.

Anyone who has worked with the Dallas Cowboys knows marketing, and success. Anyone working under Jerry Jones knows how to maneuver an insane boss.

Art Briles is available to coach football
Kidding. Just the first thing that popped into my head after reading your comment. :)
Re: Athletic Director Search Committee
We're just listing some pros and cons of the leaked unsubstantiated candidates. Like you all we want to do is win, but winning is not a given which is why these guys and gals will be totally vetted.

Last night on my way home from the Cajun shellacking of LR I heard that Baylor is about to be hit with multiple law suites for lack of protecting women. True or not it is probably not a good idea to risk it on a guy who may be embroiled in law suites for the next several years.
Re: Athletic Director Search Committee
How is it that so many here have "seen the backgrounds" of these 3 finalists. Why not give us some ballpark hints as to where we can read a bio other than the LSU guy.
By the way, I'm not sure why, but I just don't get the best feeling about the LSU guy. I would just be curious what his true ambitions are. Obviously our search committee must've heard some promising things from him to like him so much. I trust their opinion at this point. But, I really want to know what exactly we are passing up on from the other two finalists if that's the case.
Re: Athletic Director Search Committee
It took me less than five minutes to find the bios on the three candidates involved. I have them on another device, but you can get them simply by putting their names and the schools together in google.

But having been lurking on RP for the last 4-5 years, I know there will be a _____$how here as soon as his LSU ties are brought up.
There may very well be scores of threads over the past few years with explosive argument... but I see too many posters claiming these threads are "the new RP". It only takes two diametrically opposing people to have internet diarrhea to make a $hlt show on here. And many times it's just those two with the explosive variety that turns a thread into a sewer. One or two RP people getting wound up about a candidate with "LSU ties" just isn't a story.
I'm with others that I like this hiring process to be discreet until we hear who they've chosen. If we weren't upset with the people chosen to evaluate the candidates, we shouldn't get that upset with their choice. I think the hire, regardless of who it is, is inconsequential until we actually see them in action in our program.
